We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Guarisma and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.

To me happiness is a temporary emotion, it comes and goes like all emotions, but the most important thing in my opinion is to have peace, to feel free and optimistic about the future whatever it may hold. When we talk about happiness the temporary emotion, that comes attached with some sort of excitement for a certain outcome, but I think the real deal comes when you become intentional about your life, meaning having the courage to wish for everything you want from life, but also surrendering to the magnificence of it, by letting it work its magic without getting attached to an outcome. looking back at my life and healing makes me happy, I am now 38 years old and I feel like I have ceased fighting life, I’ve learned to let go of resistance and just let life flow through me; we question our lives and what we do so much. When I look back I can clearly see the growth and pieces of the puzzle that made me who I am right now, and that is deeply satisfying.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a yoga teacher and intuitive energy healer. I’m not sure if I know there’s something that sets me apart from others, but I can tell you is that I live my life as authentically as I can, I am passionate about living what feels like a healthy lifestyle to me and I share it with everyone. My teachings come from the heart and I think people can feel that. – I would say that keeps me pretty busy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I believe Miami has one of the most beautiful beaches in the country so that’s a must-do for sure. I would definitely bring them to my beach yoga classes in Surfside lol, because if you’ve never done yoga at the beach you are missing out. I’m not a drinker but I love to eat, so I like to get some delicious vegan food at Planta South Beach, Thatch in Midtown, or Aguacate Sanctuary of Love for an animal sanctuary, yoga, and food experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I’ve been lucky enough to have so many wonderful people around me that have inspired me throughout the years, but I have to mention my teachers Radha Krisna Lilla & Benjamin Smilowitz from Lightrail Yoga, because the practice of yoga has brought so much healing into my life and to me finding somebody that is passionate about what they do, that is living the life not just preaching it, and that consistently shows me the way to move forward is a beautiful blessing.
