We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Alessandrini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Life is crazy, uncertain, and unexpected, but one thing I am sure of is to never give up. The most important piece of advice I have gotten is to never look back. I believe that moving forward is the key to success. Moving forward leads to better outcomes, better understandings, and more knowledge. Learning from your past is important and it is what will make you a better person. Giving up is not something that I have planned for myself. If things do not work out in my favor, I work harder or I figure it out. The struggles in my life have only made me become more independent and this is something I am extremely thankful for.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One of the many things the pandemic did was take my job; however, I am extremely thankful for that. Getting laid off helped me realize there was better out there for me. I was able to learn, go through new experiences, and expand my knowledge on things I would have never thought about. I was tired of sitting at home doing nothing so I got up and did something. “Nothing” turned into growing @thealookk on Instagram, starting a small business with my sister, becoming a freelance photographer and web designer, and finally, working for a Miami-based PR agency as a social media coordinator; this is what sets me apart from everyone. I wear many hats and I couldn’t be more excited for myself. I am now in graduate school learning about the different interests I gained this past year, and I couldn’t be happier.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many places in Miami to go to… Lately, the two areas I have been going to a lot are North Miami Beach and Coconut Grove. North Miami Beach, in my opinion, is more relaxing than South Beach and there are definitely fewer people there. The Grove area has also been my go-to place lately and the restaurants that have been opening up are delicious. Some of the restaurants in the area are, Mister O1, Planta Queen, Sapore de Mare, Lokal Burger, and Greenstreet to name a few. The area is nice to walk around with a friend, study in the park, or even just sit around to eat and ice cream.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents, Claudia Sol and Alex Alessandrini, and my grandmother Celia Alessandrini have encouraged me to live my dreams since day one. They have taught me to be fearless, persistent, confident, independent, and most important to be myself; it’s because of them I am who I am today.

My boyfriend/best friend, Farid Marquez, has dealt with my crazy ideas and personality for the past 8 years and I am extremely thankful for him. He has been by side through all the tough times in my career and has encouraged me to do and be better. He has been my rock through it all!
