We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Rivas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Entering into the Aesthetic Dermatology field, I was not aware how much goes into social media marketing. In order to be successful in this field of medicine, you need to advertise yourself, your work and promote your services, verses someone who feels like they are coming down with something then often goes to see their primary care provider. As a medical provider of luxury services, it means your social media presence needs to be big in order to attract patients in need of those services. This adds another element to your work and the need to be the face of your practice and work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud of my work because of the “Low and Slow” approach I take. I do not like to do anything too aggressive or dramatic at one time, so it may take multiple appointments or sessions to achieve the look or end result the patient wants. This is a safer way to treat the patient that wants to have a luxury medical treatment done, as well giving them a more natural result. I was lucky enough to find my employer who had trust in me to mentor me and teach me the art of Aesthetic Dermatology. So much so that I became an Injector Trainer as well for an online training program to teach those who may not have been as lucky as myself to learn from someone with experience and knowledge about things like Neurotoxins, fillers, and PDO smooth threads.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would go to the Town Center mall to shop of course. We would go eat at my local Korean BBQ, Hibachi, and sushi hotspots. We are close enough to check out the Hard Rock Guitar. Of course, hit the beach and get some fresh seafood nearby. Downtown Delray also some great restaurants and bars to check out. So many fun things to do in South Florida.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
An organization that deserves some credit in helping with my success is the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA). This organization provided me with all the resources I need to be successful as a PA. The annual conference is one event that I never miss. The CME course and lectures are magnificent. I really enjoy my time there with the great networking opportunities, and love the events they throw exclusively for the members attending. I’ve learned so much from those conferences and because of how much AAPA furthers and maintains my PA education, and for that reason I’d like to shout them out.
