We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Garnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, what do you attribute your success to?
The key to our success is having an amazing team to execute the day-to-day and help form policies and strategies for future growth. One person cannot accomplish anything close to what a team can achieve. I have a skilled and caring group of people managing and representing our company.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My staff may dislike me for it sometimes, but I have instructed them to never say no. If someone asks for a service that is out of the ordinary, it would be easy to just say “Sorry, that isn’t something we do.” Instead, we push ourselves to figure out how it can be accomplished. That is how we have expanded our global footprint and our product offerings. Never saying no fits our mission of “Delivering an Accessible World®.” Being in a feel-good business, we are making dreams come true. Anyone who wants to travel can enjoy a destination in person rather than on television or online. The journey hasn’t been easy, but every time you hear how grateful someone is that you helped them enjoy their dream vacation it makes every effort and pitfall worth it. Another important factor to our success is we treat our customers the way we would like to be treated. Because of that, I often take things personally when something goes awry or if we have a complaint. I know that I shouldn’t take it personally, but that is still a work in progress.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many options in South Florida. One great option to bring visitors is CityPlace Doral, South Florida’s premier wellness, entertainment, dining and restaurant destination. They have a wide variety of restaurants such as Tap 42 or Suviche, a movie theater and even bowling at Kings Miami, so there is bound to be something for everyone.

Another place that I enjoy is walking Fort Lauderdale Beach and landing at the Las Olas Oceanside Park (The LOOP). The LOOP often has special events, activities, and unique local experiences for all, including free concerts, holiday happenings, farmer’s markets, community workouts, and more.

Others would be Jaxson’s Ice Cream, Dania Pointe, and Sawgrass Mills.

If they are staying for long enough, I would also look at a weekend cruise sailing from Port Everglades or Port Miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents had a glass and mirror distribution company that I had planned to work with upon graduating from the University of Florida. They had different plans. The semester before my graduation, my parents sold the business. That forced me to do things outside of that comfort zone. Since I had always wanted to have my own business, I kept looking for an opportunity to do so. Once I decided to start Special Needs Group, Inc., both my mother and father were there for advice and even to physically work with me to get the company off the ground and beyond. In addition, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that my wife and son have always been proud of our success and have been understanding when I have had to work away from home and for extended days and hours.
