We had the good fortune of connecting with Aney C and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aney, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from from Chiriqui, Panama. My family is from Panama, and we moved to the United States in 2001. My parents are both an inspiration and a motivation for me. My parents struggled and worked tirelessly every day. They had to go through so many trials and tribulations just to provide a better life for my siblings and myself. My parents had an influence on who I am now. They showed me that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything. Not only that, but they taught me that no matter what position you find yourself in, you must always treat everyone with kindness. My mother always told me that even if others do not appreciate you, you must always do everything out of kindness and with love. Being  Panamanian has also had an influence on who I am. My cultural heritage has taught me the importance of respect, compassion, my faith, and my relationships with others. My culture has taught me to love and appreciate other cultures as well. I hope that as I continue on my journey I can inspire others as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So I’m a college student studying Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I’m also working on earning my paralegal certificate. I am also a business owner, along with my sister Angelys Centeno, of ACSHOPCO, which we founded in 2020. I am also a singer who has been writing songs, and recently I performed at the Latin Music Festival in Miramar, Florida in September 2021. I am extremely proud of what I have done thus far. It’s not easy to be a student, a company owner, and a performer all at the same time. I’m enthusiastic about what the future has in store for me, but I’m enjoying the journey rather than looking ahead. I’m delighted to be working on my degree, rebranding my business, and writing new songs for a future release. I overcome my difficulties by taking things one day at a time. I discovered how easy one can become burned out and how vital it is to take time for yourself and reset. It’s also critical to just take on what you can handle. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to quit pleasing people and start doing things for yourself and your happiness. I also learned that it is okay to say no to people and to create boundaries in order to protect my mental wellbeing. Finally, I understood that you can’t control what other people think of you. People will always have something to say about you, so do whatever makes you happy. What I want the world to know about myself and my experience is that you can do anything you set your mind to in life. Don’t be scared to fight for what you believe in, and keep working hard to achieve your goals. There are unlimited possibilities in the world, and you should not let anyone stop you from doing what you want to do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are several locations to explore in Miami, but my favorite hangout is Hollywood Beach. If my best friend came to visit, I would take her to Hollywood Beach to relax and get a tan. I’d then go to Kush in Wynwood, where they serve my favorite burger, the Lokal. I’d then take her to the Wynwood walls to view the vibrant murals. I would also take her to the Vizcaya museum and garden to view the lovely estate and gardens. Finally, for a night out, I would take her to Chica Miami for some amazing cuisine and entertainment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d want to dedicate this shoutout to my mother. My mother has always encouraged and supported me in all of my endeavors. She’s taught me about the power of manifestation and the importance of my thoughts and words. She is constantly motivating me to be the best that I can be. Despite the fact that my parents couldn’t afford to buy us certain things when we were younger, they always showered us with love and never made my siblings and I feel as if we were lacking something. My parents have always been there for me, no matter what, and I appreciate them for shaping me into the person I am today. Because of my mother, I am a confident, passionate, and appreciative woman who pursues her aspirations and refuses to accept no for an answer. My parents taught me that life is full of lovely moments, and that all we have to do is be present and appreciate them.
