We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Robertson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thoughts about starting my own business: It’s always been a passion of mine to help people and to cook for them. So starting Angell’s Place was the beginning of something very amazing for me. Why, because in all aspects I want to eventually open up a Soup Kitchen and help the homeless; starting out with feeding them and then eventually getting into the business of sheltering and helping them to become self sufficient and learning the necessary skills to get them back up and on their own. With all things considered, every thing that I encountered in my past, from county jail stays both in and out of Broward County and out of the state of Florida as well; seeing and meeting different people and hearing some of them talk about not knowing what they were going to do or where they were going to go once they were released and then when I was released I thought I had my stuff all put together and figured out, but I found myself sometimes sleeping in a rental car and thinking about some of the conversations that I had while locked up. I began to get my bearings and get situated and my mate and I began to live together. We would have parties and cook for many people. And we began to talk about opening up a restaurant. It was all talk for a long time. I was afraid to venture out into it because I was afraid of failure. It wasn’t until he passed away in 2021, that I told myself that I really wanted to follow my passion and my thoughts. But I let it linger for some more time. August 2023 I finally established ANGELL’s PLACE LLC. Since opening I’ve cooked for several events and parties. All of the gigs that I have catered for were based on word of mouth no Promos, no website, no business funding or anything. My goals are to get my website up and running with pictures of my plated foods and pricing and eventually opening a full functioning storefront, taking online and phone orders.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting to where I am now was not easy; I encountered so many hardships and battles. What I can honestly say is the thing that I feel sets me apart from others is my endurance and the fact that through every one of my hardship I fell; but I never stayed down I always got up, and I pressed and fought and I was very resilient. Overcoming the challenges wasn’t an easy task either, but I made it because someone believed in me, someone kept pushing and motivating and encouraging me. Along the way I have learned that all things happen for a reason, and  if you put GOD first in everything that you do the outcome of your situation will be great. What I want everyone to know about ANGELL’s PLACE is that I prep and cook my foods with Grace and Love. I pray before, during and after my services. I love what I do and the purpose that I do it for. My purpose is to make the hearts of people smile, to provide and cater to people. It gives me a peace that is unexplainable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Honestly speaking the itenerary that I would have will be something like this:

Mon- I would cook breakfast lunch and dinner
Evening: I would have to say I would get my auntie(Stephanie) we would either do backyard chronicals(which is basically having conversation in the backyard around the fireplace)
Tuesday- may sleep in then have some fun and again some convo
Wednesday- breakfast lunch grab some thing quick for dinner. I go to church on Wednesday evenings I sing on the praise and worship team.
Thursday- may go down to the beach have lunch Thursday evening I have praise and worship rehearsals
Friday- usually I do Auntie Steph house talk time and fun I’m sure we willl grab food. I quit drinking o don’t go out anymore either so it would be home hang out reading and having Bible or adult convo
Saturday- would be a free day we figure it out as we go but I’m sure Thrifting would be on the agenda
Sunday- close our day. I go to Sunday morning service I sing praise and worship. After church we grab food and do some more convo

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My special shoutout I would have to say goes to Stephanie Wallace my Life Influencer. I met her at church after my fiancé passed away. Unbeknownst to me; she was at his funeral showing support because she already knew my babies. She came into my life I use to think it was by chance but I now know it was for reasons far beyond what we will ever know. Her coming into my life and pouring into to me opened up so many doors and allowed me to venture on to many avenues that I would have never fathomed. She doesn’t tell me things that I want to hear, she tell me things that I need to hear and the adjustments that I need to make in my situation. I pray daily that I will be half of the woman she is. All of the strength, grace, ambitions and more that she embodies is top tier.
