We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela GomezDuran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’m addicted to art, I grew up painting and drawing on everything. I’ve always been a creative and artistic person, I started my career in art because I felt it to be a gift, a gift that keeps on giving. It’s also a form of therapy, it brings me joy and peace. I feel more alive, I show my soul in each painting and performance which is the mixture that strikes people who admire my art to feel, whether good or bad, thats what it’s about, to make people feel emotions an in an increasingly cold world. That’s my goal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I’m a Spanish model, actress and painter. I’ve worked as a model in different countries. I participated in beauty pageants such as Miss Earth. In 2007, I won the crown of Miss Fire. In 2014 I moved to Miami, Florida, where I currently work as a painter. I show my art in different galleries and fairs such as Art Basel, one of the most important art events in the world, as well as Pinta, Red Dot and Miami River Fair. My style is unique. I use newspapers from the 1800s and combine elements of pop art and baroque surrealism. Today I continue to act and model in addition to creating my art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them ?

I love Miami! It’s amazing! it’s a city where you can find everything you are looking for. There are a lot of extremely cool, fun, fashionable and charming places, but my favorite area by far is Wynwood. I painted my first mural there, in front of the wynwood walls, which was an amazing experience! If you’re an art fanatic, that’s your place to visit in Miami. Its very special to walk through that neighborhood which is filled with all types of art, also great restaurants. You can take a break from art by having a cold beer in one of the local breweries in that area and then continue your visit through the different galleries that surround.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents. I am the luckiest woman in the world to have parents who have supported me in all the decisions I have made in my life. I feel blessed, I can’t thank you enough. I also owe my success to a friend who was responsible for my first art exhibition. He insisted so much that I show my art for the first time in his coffee theater. He changed everything, nothing was the same since that day. Dear friend, wherever you are, I know you see everything. I miss you.
