We had the good fortune of connecting with Anhisha Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anhisha, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business is myself (RmoCandiieMakeup). My business provides me to be able to do makeup, be an influencer, content creator and the capability to do client’s makeup time from time. For a while now, I felt that my business helps the community because I am showing new artist ways of makeup by doing simple to very complex looks that express feeling. I also am an influencer so I have the capability to have my voice be heard in a community to offer help to people if they just need someone to listen to them, advice on life, makeup and really being a friend to the community. But I also have the capability of making someone feel more beautiful on a special day, an event just by simply doing makeup. That feeling of seeing someone’s face light up the room all because you took the time to doll them up is a feeling that never gets old or dull yet so rewarding.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Makeup is well known now and only grows daily but makeup is more then just makeup to me it’s my way of expression. I started makeup just for fun in 2016 here in Miami and then in 2017-2018 I went to beauty school and did many projects that helped me understand the different levels of makeup. Then from there I just kept going, I would do makeup daily for work even if it was a little over the top I still wore it and rocked it. I also pushed myself to get into face painting, SFX because I wanted to do more than simple glam I wanted to make masterpieces on my face. I would literally eat, sleep & breathe makeup I became so addicted to doing better than my last look that it’s all I could talk about. Yeah people got annoyed with it but when you love something so much you know its the right thing cause you never get bored of it. I would say the biggest challenges I have faced is motivation at times because when you start to get into makeup and you start sharing it to the world you get wrapped up in popularity and numbers of followers and honestly that should never be a motivation to do what you love and to share with people and I noticed that for myself and noticed I stopped doing makeup more and more because it felt like a chore to get more followers besides it just comes naturally as it did in 2018. If you find something that you love and your passionate about let that be your focus don’t get sucked into the whole followers count and oh this didn’t get that many likes etc because that will become an obstacle and can eventually make you stop loving what you do. My brand RmoCandiieMakeup is my heart and soul, its the one thing I had to help me through the tough times since my mothers passing and to this day is what gives me a reason to wake up in the morning to think “what look can I do next,” “what can I paint on my face today?” It’s like winning on a scratch ticket each time because there is always something new to do.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Wynwood is the place to go! Not only does it have the art district but it also has nightclubs, exhibits, food it literally has everything, to be honest. Anytime someone from back home in Colorado asks me that is the one place I recommend always because even I enjoyed it when I first moved here and to this day love it. Never a boring or dull moment in Wynwood. As far as which places well for some they don’t like it but SHOTS Miami is always a lit place to go to and to me has a great choice in hip hop music and more “newer generation” music but then you also got Centro which is another must go to for a lit night out. Food-wise there are always food trucks somewhere in Wynwood and they all pretty much slap which in simple terms are really good.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that come to mind that I wanna thank but they’re three people that have literally either supported me, pushed me, or helped me get to where I am today. The first would be my mother who passed in 2018 she was a strong woman and taught me so much but she was always my number one fan and would constantly send me new makeup looks to try and really push me to try new things. She always supported me when it came to artistic things and never once told me I did a bad job but she did tell me how I should fix things if they needed improvement. The second person would be my teachers from beauty school (Claudia Batista, Elba Perez, & Karin Vargas) To kinda go into the depth of these three women I wanna start off by saying without them I probably would have never followed through with makeup. Claudia always pushed me to do all the crazy looks I could imagine and push me to think outside the box but also to think about being professional and making my company what it’s today. Elba was my skincare teacher and really helped me to understand what skincare has to do with makeup and how to make it look so flawless and effortless but also was like a second mom to me and always showed me love and support. Lastly, Karin, she was the first teacher I had in makeup and helped me to get out of my shell, she helped me to accept that I love color looks more than neutral but also was my biggest critique she always ensured I understood the fundamentals but how precision is key. The final person is beauty influencer Shannon Smart, she is well known in the beauty community but she believed and continues to believe in me when no one else does. She helped me to grow and understand what it takes to make it in this industry and she also was a friend to me when things got rough. I constantly look up to her when it comes to makeup and how to go about growing and she is just simply amazing and sweet. Makeup is about everything and anything but without structure, it can all become to look the same, because of these women I am able to take things and make myself stand out above the rest.
