We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Farese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anthony, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency and passion for what I do has been absolute key to the success I’ve seen with my social media. I love prop making and sharing my work on the internet every week. There’s nothing more satisfying than looking at a finished prop or costume piece and saying “I made that.”
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in the last year despite the hurdles the pandemic presented. I had a lot more time on my hands at home, and I decided to use that time to learn new techniques and ways to improve my cosplay, and prop work. I decided to invest in a 3d printer and fell in love with learning the ins and outs of the machine. There is a definitely a learning curve trying to figure out not just the machine but the software and settings as well. It takes a good chunk of hours, even days to sand the finished prints smooth for painting. It’s certainly helped me learn to be patient. The more time you spend with your prep work, the better your finished paint job will be. I love this so much that I’m working on something just about every week.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places before the pandemic to visit locally was downtown West Palm Beach. It’s beautiful walking by the inlet and there are plenty of great places to eat or grab a drink.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank my friends and family for being so supportive of my hobbies. And I’d especially like to thank my best friend Carlo for helping guide me and teach me new skills that have helped get me to the place I am right now with prop making. I started out fresh knowing absolutely nothing and owe all that success to the knowledge he has given me. We are also in the beginning stages of starting our own 3D printing business.
