We had the good fortune of connecting with Apollo Fresh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Apollo, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Faith and a Growth mindset! No matter what happens i believe and keep learning and keep growing until my brand sees the results I am aiming for. I found out that my own personal growth and the growth of my business are often closely tied. The more i grow the more my business grows. I did and do anything I can to improve myself and my business wether its meditation or online courses. I first started “Apollo Fresh” not knowing what to do to become a successful rap artist so started where i could. I made a lot of music and just kept practicing to keep getting better. Then I tried going out to underground shows and meeting people with experience making music. till now i keep trying new things and learning. I keep the good and let go of what does not serve me and Apollo Fresh any more. I’ve come to realized that as a human being you can build anything, especially together. You just have to build it brick by brick. Most people just give up at the first few bricks because it does not look like a house yet. You really can build anything you put you heart and mind into it. For me having faith and a great growth mindset allows me to stay true to my vision, pivot when necessary, to stick with it long enough to see the results and get back up when I slip. I would never see results if i gave up and refuse to evolve. there was a quote i heard once that said something along the lines of “most people overestimate what they can do in one year and under estimate what they can do in 10 years” exponential growth takes time but its bound to happen with consistency.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud about a comment i recently got on my instagram. the commentor is a teacher and he talked about how his kids enjoy my music and dance to it everyday it was a very purposeful song called “Platinum end”. My heart felt so warm i cried a little it reminded me why i was making music. I make music to enjoy the process and inspire others especially the youth. The second thing I’m most proud of is my song hitting 61 million songs on spotify. it was not easy getting here but its kind of like learning to ride a bike its only hard at first because you don’t know how. its only becoming easier and easier. the biggest difficulty is disciplining myself to make sure i change my habits for the better.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
we would definitely hit up south beach Miami for the experience. but then we would go to a few beautiful nature areas in south florida like tree tops park in Broward. we definitely would have to check out wynwood and the art district. then we would find a couple underground open mics and performances in the area. i like artsy stuff and nature.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thank you so Dr Kauanui and Mark Bole two of my mentors from the entrepreneurship program at FGCU. they really drilled the fundamentals of entrepreneurship into me. Thank you to the author of the books “mindset” “the power of now” and “the slight edge” there are so many books i love and that changed my life but these hit home for me right now. Thank you to the Apollo Fresh community you warm my heart and inspire me everyday. Thank you to my mom and dad for caring and nurturing the genius in me. Thank you to whoever is reading this for sharing this planet with me and being apart of our journey.
