We had the good fortune of connecting with April R. Martindale, MBA, Esq. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April R., how do you think about risk?
In my opinion, being a risk taker is imperative to be an effective leader and have success in your respective field. Taking risks has been the trajectory of propelling my firm forward to be at the forefront of pressing issues in both legal and business sectors. Entrepreneurship necessitates taking risks on a daily and consistent basis in order to meet both business as well as personal goals. As a serial entrepreneur, it is imperative to take risks daily and have the confidence to go forward with your dreams, visions and ideas. Taking risks is important if you do not want to live a life of mediocre or average existence.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Martindale Legal Services, LLC d/b/a Martindale Law has been providing personalized and timely legal services to the people of South Florida and N.Y. since 2013 by April R. Martindale, M.B.A. JD., Esq. We know how complex and overwhelming the legal process can be. This is why our goal is to help our clients understand their rights and the issues affecting their respective cases. Our firm is dedicated to the broad general practice of law, with special expertise in select areas, including Business Law, Intellectual Property Law, Contractual Disputes, and now practicing Wills and Trusts. If you need legal guidance or strategic solutions to a business matter or legal dispute, our firm is ready, willing, and able to provide effective legal representation and consultancy throughout South Florida and surrounding areas. Martindale Law works hard to protect the rights of our clients. But our job doesn’t stop there. We strive to keep you informed about the details of your case as they evolve. Our firm keeps you involved and personally guides you in making important decisions about your case. We are here to serve you and protect your rights. We are proud of the amount of federally registered trademarks we were able to secure for our business clients; excited that we recently saved one client $130,000 by dismantling the provisions of an unenforceable triple net commercial lease. We are proud of our owner and managing partner, April R. Martindale for being selected to the 2020-2021 Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association (GSCBWLA) Executive Board as Historian; as a fellow into the Florida Bar Business Section Fellowship Program for the 2020-2022 class; and accepted into the Small Business Executive Program under the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship-FSU College of Business for Fall 2020. I had to position myself in order to overcome the challenges that come with success and opportunity. I had to renew my mindset to see the possibilities and find opportunities out of obstacles. Over the years I’ve learned that you have to count your blessings and stop stressing over certain situations that are not under your control. Life is not easy, but it is absolutely worth living. I’ve learned that by doing the right things and being of service to others, doors will continue to open and opportunities will present themselves to you. I also learned that the best revenge is success. Don’t stoop down to someone’s level and diminish your shine. Always take the high road and do the right thing. Life has a way of paying you back for your efforts.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would invite them over my house and cook a 5-6 course gourmet meal for them. I’ve been called the “Hostest with the Mostest!” I would also take them to the beach, preferably Deerfield Beach, out for wine tasting at Coopers Hawk, and to a local spot or dive bar in Fort Lauderdale that has a live band.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to friends, family, mentors, colleagues and those naysayers who did not believe in my vision. I appreciate all who have supported and encouraged me to help inspire my passion to do better as a woman, mother, friend, legal advocate and mentor.
