We had the good fortune of connecting with Arielle Tayar & Denise Volovitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arielle & Denise, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
One day it just sort of clicked. I was always a creative, but I loved business, marketing, and strategic thinking. When I understood that the two could intersect in brand building and design it was a serious Aha moment. With 0 formal training I got to work. I emailed a company I was working with as a freelancer and told them that they were great at what they did but that they looked like crap on the internet. And I was going to help them change that. I worked for nothing, taught myself everything and forced them to give me a chance. That was the start, and I never looked back!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a creative agency, which essentially means that we are commissioned storytellers. Founded by Arielle Tayar and Denise Volovitz. After honing in on a brand’s essence, demographic, we use all the tools available to us – branding, graphic design, web design, newsletters, content, activations – and the list goes on, via all the mediums out there – both digital and in the flesh – to tell a clear, concise and exciting story about your brand, product, message, or initiative.

We are obsessed with what we do, and we absorb inspiration with every step and every turn. The best part about creative work is that there are no rules – and whatever rules there are, they are truly meant to be broken. Both of us founders come from different backgrounds – business, theater, film – and we are self-taught designers that learned the ropes through doing and creating for own projects. Once we understood that we didn’t do half bad for “amateurs” we began creating brands and campaigns for clients, and the rest was history. We have fresh eyes, our ears are tuned into the global scenes of fashion, lifestyle, hospitality, culinary, and so much more. Upon meeting any brand, we are humbled, eager to dive in and learn, and every project brings with it so much development and growth for us both professionally and personally.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are pretty new here! So don’t judge! But just upon landing we love the Wynwood scene. Coconut grove is just the most charming! We just had dinner at Los Felix and couldn’t recommend it more. Of course we were here just in time for Basel, so Soho house was super fun to people watch at, and we loved the exhibition at The Bass. But like we said, holler at us and tell us where else to check out!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Starting with gratitude energy seems like the perfect way to start anything!

Of course we’d love to thank our amazing team and collaborators in Tel Aviv, New York, Paris, Miami, Kiev for sticking through with us over the years and through so many ups and downs, and an extra special thanks to Clarita Volovitz, travel agent extraordinaire and founder of AZA that recommended us for this feature!
