We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashannte Fulton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashannte, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My end goal for The Rae 2in1 Patented Designs is to expand with more inventions, then later on into general investments. I would like to go from selling my inventions and organic products independently to collaborating with other brands and large companies in order to build the empire that I know my brand can become. By the end of my career, I would like to be the one giving creatives the opportunity to shine by investing in their ideas and talent. Similar to Shark Tank. There is so much talent across the globe and many individuals just lack guidance as I did and still do due to building from the ground up.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am an inventor, focusing mainly on creating convenience beauty products. My first invention that I have patented and released under my company The Rae 2in1 Patented Designs is my 3in1 Edge Brushes, which provides the convenience of having a combination of an Edge Brush and Edge Control/Edge Gel all in one in order to stay styled on the go or during times of travel.

Not only do I sell my invention, but I also make Organic Edge Gel and Edge Controls that are infused with nourishing, growth stimulating ingredients that keep your edges both styled and healthy. My company also sells other Organic Women’s and Men’s products including Lip Gloss, Hair Oil, Hair tinting Products, Body Butter and more.

I have so far built and funded my company 100% on my own with no guidance other than my own trial and error, so my journey has not been easy. I had no experience at all when it came down to creating a brand new product and had trouble relaying my vision, so I taught myself how to use CAD software to make my own 3D model and from there scouted my own manufacturer to bring my idea to life. The ups and downs of my learning process has shown me that a strong team is beneficial in many ways. I would not have had so many obstacles if I had knowledgeable individuals in reach, but I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and I was meant to learn all of these new skills!

If the world could know one thing about my brand and it’s journey, it would be that this is bigger than just monetary gain for me. My company for me symbolizes both generational wealth and the helping hand that I can give to future creatives who like me just needed a chance. I feel as though I went through the trials of building my business from scratch just so that I will have the power to inspire and lead other creatives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Brickell! Lately the bars and restaurants in that area have been my favorite, especially Blackbird Ordinary which is a cool little club with good drinks and vibes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my biggest motivation, my beautiful daughter Akira Rae. I have been gifted the most amazing child and she has inspired me to dream without limits and to never be afraid of failure. My company is named after her and although she is only 3 years old, she is my protege and I plan on teaching her the skills that she will need to be boundless when it comes to her aspirations in life. Becoming a mom gave me the grit that is needed to persevere as an entrepreneur and knowing that she is always watching my every move lights an undying fire within me.
