We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Brown PA, GKC and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Contrary to what you may see on real estate reality shows, this business is very tough! We are currently in a housing crisis due to the shortage of homes available for sale. Therefore, you can have plenty of approved buyers but only a small number of homes to choose from. I’ve been blessed to still be able to get 95% of my buyers into homes and I’ve been able to contribute to the shortage of homes by finding homeowners that are needing to sell their homes.

Also, I believe the most important unknown fact about being a real estate agent is that we do not get paid until your buyer or seller closes on their home. Everyone sees the glamorous side of real estate but there is definitely a process to growing your business to the point that you have consistent income coming in from your business.

What should our readers know about your business?
Being a real estate professional is more than selling homes; to me, it’s about making a difference in others’ lives.

Before becoming a real estate professional, I was an Algebra and Geometry teacher. Therefore, I’ve always had a passion for educating others, and I’ve been able to apply that passion to my business. I’m always very sure to provide my buyers and sellers with all the details needed to make informed decisions, and I make sure to provide them with the supporting data as well.

Over the years, I’ve learned to apply a lot of my organizational skills from the classroom to my business which has allowed me to assist my clients with the process seamlessly.

Overall, when you purchase or sell a home with me, you’re sure to have an experience! What you see on social media is what you get! I love to make others laugh, so I strive to make the process of purchasing your home as enjoyable as possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a born Floridian, this should be an easy question! Everyone knows that we’re known for our theme parks here in Orlando, so a tour of the theme parks is a must! Disney World can either be an all day trip or can be broken up into multiple days to explore Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and we can’t forget to go shopping at Disney Springs.

Our theme park tour would continue at Universal Orlando, where we can also go to see a movie at City Walk that evening and enjoy good seafood at Bubba Gump Shrimp.

Finally we would end our trip with a few sweet treats from Rachel with Party Poppers and make our way to The Improv, the comedy club at Pointe Orlando, for a night full of laughs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success has definitely been a result of a group of individuals that have poured into my life and held me up during tough times. As stated before, this business can get very stressful, and you must have a support system.

My family has played a significant part in supporting my entrepreneurial endeavors. My grandmother and godmother have been there for me when times got challenging and good times. A large part of why I go so hard to be successful is to make sure I can care for them for the remainder of their lives.

Mentorship is also critical in this business! I have two mentors that have helped me both personally and professionally. My personal mentor, Taja McRae, who also has a life coach business, has always seemed to give me the words of encouragement and spiritual guidance that I’ve needed. Her husband is also my Bishop at The Experience Christian Center in Orlando, FL, and I can get frequent encouragement under his leadership.

I owe a lot of my recent growth in the structure and organization of my business to my online mentor, Quiana Watson of Agent Tools for Success, in Atlanta, GA. Over the last year, I have learned so much from Quiana and have noticed a significant difference in my business.

Lastly, I would be remiss in not recognizing my close friends that have been a listening ear, source of encouragement, and reminder that I can do whatever I set my mind to do! You all know who you are!
