Meet ashley Montejo | baker and creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with ashley Montejo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ashley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always knew that I wanted to to have my own business, how I was going to go about it is a different story. I’m still trying to figure that out if I am being honest. I love having my own brand, my own name and the ability to be able to create my own thing whenever I want and I think that was a main factor in me wanting my own business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love my business because it lets me be creative in so many different ways. I get to create edible art for all different types of ocasionas ranging from birthdays to holidays and everything in-between.
People will sometimes just go for the aesthetic appeal and not go as far as to make sure they are also focused on making sure the food is also as appealing. I make it a mission to make sure everything I make is as good as it looks.
It isn’t always easy. You have to stay with what’s in but also make it your own and different that what is out there and I feel like I have been able to do that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a mom if now three kids its hard to keep up with everything Miami has to offer. But there’s nothing that will keep me from taking anyone that comes to visit to 1-800 lucky in Wynwood, its my go to place when I get a mommy day to myself. Ill also be making a stop at Superblue which is an amazing immersive art experience. To get to know Miami better we would do a hop on hop off tour bus, which are completely underrated if you ask me. I was born and raised in Miami and there was so much i saw and learned when I did a tour.
Heading up to Aventura Mall is a definite must as well with so many different stores and restaurants you can honestly be there for breakfast lunch and dinner and still not see everything. But i will be making sure I head over to PANI

where you can n ot go wrong with whatever you order on the menu
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shout out goes to my family. They will always be my number one. My business is named after my children, which are my world. My husband is my number one fan, supporter and critic that always pushes me to dream big. My parents bought my my first baking and decorating set and my mother dragged me to culinary school when I was to afraid to follow my dreams. My brothers will try anything and everything I make. And a special shout to my in-laws, my mother and father in law for helping me with the kids when I’m working and my sister in law and fellow baker for pushing me out of my confort zone and forcing me to do crazy things I didn’t think we were capable of done!
