We had the good fortune of connecting with Ayana Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ayana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been fortunate to pursue my passion, my dreams, which has become my new career. I see the power of blooms as they are used to celebrate the start of new life, and new beginnings in life. Throughout this entire process they have brought me much joy. I took a leap of faith and decided to put purpose behind my passion to spread joy in our community through flowers. Maybe starting a business during a pandemic seemed a bit questionable, however my passion couldn’t be easily tamed.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a custom design floral studio. We specialize in customizing unique floral arrangements for home decor, events, corporate, and weddings! What sets us apart from other floral shops is that we do not have specific arrangements to choose from, instead no two arrangements are the same. We also offer private “create your own” arrangements party’s which are perfect for any occasion!
Getting where I am today wasn’t easy. It’s a little scary quitting a corporate job of 10+ years to pursue my passion. I have learned many lessons along the way, but I wouldn’t change a thing!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was in town for a long weekend there is no way that I wouldn’t take her to check out three bites bakery for some mouth watering pastries. The bakery is so cute and cozy nestled in a thriving up and coming neighborhood in old town east. I’d be remised to skip out on a nice dinner at Cooper hawk, where the food and wine are absolutely amazing! Wine tasting any day of the week, sign me up! Lol. Lastly, who doesn’t love a good Sunday brunch! We would certainly head on over to hangover easy for good food and even better.. mimosas!!! Cheers!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has been my biggest supporter! Without his support I never would have taken a leap of faith to pursue my passion and start my own business. His gentle reminders saying “you got this” is what helps to keep me motivated!
