We had the good fortune of connecting with Benjamin Araica and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Benjamin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Ultimately, my goal was to build something sustainable that reflects both my passion for design and my belief in empowering creative professionals. I founded my agency in Florida to work directly with my own clients, enjoy the flexibility of location independence, and create meaningful opportunities for talented professionals from my home country, Nicaragua. Through this, I aim to showcase the creativity and skill of young designers in Latin America to a global audience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I began my journey as a Visual Designer, studying first in Nicaragua and later completing my undergraduates in Visual Communication Design in Izmir, Turkey. Those experiences exposed me to different design philosophies and taught me how culture and context shape creativity.

After graduating, I worked as a Visual designer for several years, creating brand identities, marketing materials, and digital content for a wide range of clients. Over time, I became more interested in how people interact with products and experiences, which led me to pursue a Master’s in Interaction Design and transitioned into the UI/UX field.

Today, I’m the Founder of BoldFrame Creative, a design agency specializing in branding, web design, and UI/UX. I’m proud to have built something that reflects my creative vision while also creating opportunities for other talented designers from my home country of Nicaragua.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d probably show him around Wynwood—it’s a neighborhood that’s always caught my interest because of its incredible murals, creative energy, and diverse food culture. We’d spend the day exploring local galleries, grabbing coffee at Panther Coffee, and trying out some of the food spots around the area like The Taco Stand or Kyu. In the evening, we could check out one of the rooftop bars nearby or just walk around to see the murals lit up at night—it’s one of those places that really captures the artistic side of Miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my alma mater, Kobe Design University, and to the Japanese Ministry of Education, who awarded me a full scholarship to study my degree there. That experience profoundly shaped my perspective on design and creativity. Living and studying in Japan instilled in me a deep appreciation for detail, balance, and user-centered thinking—principles that continue to influence my work every day.
