Meet Benjo Hamo | Interior Designer and Founder of Benjo Interior Design

We had the good fortune of connecting with Benjo Hamo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Benjo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was fueled by my vision for interior design and my desire for creative freedom. After moving from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Miami, I yearned to bring my ideas to life in a way that allowed me full control over the process. It was a leap of faith, but I believed in my skills and passion. I spent countless hours building my brand, networking, and honing my craft, and today, I’m proud to see how far Benjo Interior Design has come.

What should our readers know about your business?
Benjo Interior Design is all about creating unique, functional, and inspiring spaces tailored to each client’s needs. What sets my business apart is my commitment to delivering designs that are not only visually stunning but also deeply personal and practical. My approach combines contemporary aesthetics with innovative uses of textures, patterns, and materials to make every project truly one-of-a-kind.
I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me to bring their visions to life. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how the spaces I design positively impact their daily lives. One of the most exciting aspects of my work is the opportunity to continuously push boundaries and explore new ideas, whether it’s integrating cutting-edge technology into a design or transforming an underutilized space into something extraordinary.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. Starting my business after moving from Tel Aviv to Miami was a significant challenge. It required building everything from the ground up—establishing a brand, networking, and navigating a new market. There were moments of doubt and many long hours, but I overcame these challenges by staying focused on my passion and trusting in the process. I learned to adapt, embrace feedback, and always prioritize transparency with my clients.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is that success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a culmination of consistent effort, learning from setbacks, and surrounding yourself with the right people. I’ve also learned the value of staying true to your vision while being open to collaboration and new ideas.
What I want the world to know about Benjo Interior Design is that it’s more than a business—it’s a reflection of my passion for transforming spaces and enriching lives. My journey has been about taking risks, trusting my instincts, and continuously striving to create designs that leave a lasting impact. I’m excited to see how my story and brand will continue to evolve as I take on new challenges and opportunities.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Miami, I’d want to share the vibrant culture, incredible food, and inspiring design that make this city so special. We’d explore the unique neighborhoods like Wynwood, with its amazing street art and creative energy, and visit Little Havana to experience the heart of Miami’s Cuban culture. Of course, no trip to Miami would be complete without a day at one of the city’s beautiful beaches, relaxing by the crystal-clear waters and soaking in the sun.
As someone passionate about design, I’d also take them to places like the Perez Art Museum Miami and the Art Deco District in South Beach to showcase the city’s architectural beauty. For food, I’d make sure we stop at Planta, a stunning vegan restaurant with delicious dishes and a chic atmosphere that aligns perfectly with Miami’s vibrant energy.
Miami is a city that celebrates creativity, diversity, and life itself. Whether it’s enjoying the beach, exploring local art, or dining at some of the best spots in the city, I’d make sure they leave feeling inspired and in love with everything Miami has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to Michal Shaish, an incredible interior designer from Israel who played a pivotal role in shaping my career. Michal took me under her wing early on and taught me so much about the art and business of interior design. Her guidance, encouragement, and willingness to share her knowledge gave me the foundation I needed to pursue my passion and eventually start my own business.
Michal’s mentorship not only taught me technical skills but also instilled in me the confidence to trust my instincts and think creatively. I carry those lessons with me every day in my work, and I’m truly grateful for her belief in me and the impact she’s had on my journey.
