We had the good fortune of connecting with Blanca Wall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blanca, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Often said that starting a business is like jumping off a cliff and building your wings on the way down. A vivid metaphor that holds a lot of truth. If you don’t assemble your wings in time you will crash. Approaching each day with a form of optimism and action oriented purpose is essential, as well as trying to find power in your passions. The strength lies in ones mindset, discipline is important, to learn to surmount challenges.
Also very important reminder to self, that life is about the journey and to be patient with yourself and proud for every small win.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I lead The Wall Studio LLC and we are small but mighty Interior Design Firm in Miami Florida.

I love bringing out the very best in any building or space and working with the design team to build and create functional, interesting and beautiful spaces. My clients are an immense source of inspiration, naturally the project we are designing is for them, so finding out who they are and what interests them and translating this into spaces is very awarding.

The relationship with clients, design team, trade and consultants as a whole are all pivotal, and building them is one of my favorite things about running a design business.

I think a large part of our success comes from hard work but also the importance to deliver unparalleled attention to detail and the experience of quality and integrity, and this has always have been very important to me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would have breakfast at the Mandarin Oriental with views of the skyline of Brickell. Taking a drive to The Florida Keys for a charming lunch at Morada bay with your feet in the sand. Next, spending an afternoon enjoying a picnic at Viscaya Museum and Gardens, to be followed by a leisure bike ride to Coconut Grove with afternoon drinks on the balcony of Bellini at Mr. C.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Growing up in an orphanage and later as a foster child on a farm in Sweden, I was able to create amazing relationships with animals and nature that all had a huge influence on my life and for this, I’m forever grateful. Being close to the natural world gave me a sense of acceptance and helped develop my confidence. This allowed me to take control and be the change in my life that I needed and helped build a platform for what the future had in store.

During my teenage years, I was busy working after school and during the summers when most other kids went on vacation with their parents, I was busy with entrepreneurial ideas and working extra to save for dreams not yet attained. At age 16 I had saved enough funds to apply to be an exchange student, I traveled to Texas on a year abroad with the Rotary Club and this taught me invaluable lessons that propelled me towards my professional career. A big thanks to the Rotary Clubs that were involved in my exchange program.

While away in Texas on my exchange program, I met many people that inspired me, my host parents were lovely mentors and huge inspiration of mine, shortly after my return back home, I applied to study Interior design and Architecture at FIU in Miami. Sweden is one of the few countries in the world that allow student loans to its citizens to study abroad, I’m forever grateful for this as it allowed me to go back to the US to study.

I’m also immensely thankful and like to give a shoutout to all my friends for all the endless support throughout the years. A specials thanks to my grandmother for always believing in me and her kindness, also my family away from home the Lashinsky’s for all the love and support.
