We had the good fortune of connecting with Bobbie Weiner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bobbie, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Phila. PA. When I was 15 1/2 YO I told my very successful father I would need a car soon. He quickly said to me, “ You will need a job soon” I cried and could not believe he would think I needed a job. He quickly told me that if I brought him $200.00 he would match me and I could buy a car for $400.00. I thought about this and the next day got a job. It was in a thrift shop near my high school for a charity but needed someone to work from 3-5 every day and Saturdays. My aunt was a member of the charity so she suggested to call them and see if they could use me. Worked there for 3 years and then the charity fell apart so I took it over at 19 and ran it for 16 years. BTW, I did get a great car within 6 months. , A Corvair Monza convertible. Wish I had it today. My Dad always said, work for it and own it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I went to FX makeup school after my husband changed his mind about being married. So I was on my own after a whirlwind 10 year marriage. It ended as fast as it began. So I needed to get a job. Someone suggested makeup school. I was living in Los Angeles so I said where do I go. That was on Thursday and Monday I was signing up for the biggest change in my life I could not have imagined in a million years. I took a huge risk at 46 and never looked back. I was no longer the Dr’s wife. No more tennis for me at the Riviera country club. I threw myself into my new career. Had not worked for 10 years. After I sold the Thrift Shop I had moved to La to start over and met the love of my life, I thought. Well I had to start over again and I have been rich and I have been poor. Trust me, rich is better😀. I lived with people for 5 years, rented a room from a few different people I met along the way. Worked really hard. Took any job that came along and then I got the call to go to Mexico and meet James Cameron and his gang to audition to do the dead frozen people in a new film he was ready to shoot, “The Titanic” with Leonardo Di Caprio. 2 months later and working 6 days a week and 18 hours a day I was looking as bad as the actors I made up to be dead and frozen. The job was done. Lucky for me Leo’s stunt double was going to a charger game in San Diego and wanted makeup to wear at the game with some of his buddies. I gave him blue and gold face paint and I had no idea that, that would be the beginning of my new business. Sports Fan Face Paint. I grabbed a young man in San Diego and asked him if I could paint his face. He said sure. I used the same colors I gave to the Charger Fan and drove up to LA and walked into the UCLA Bookstore with pictures of him and asked for the buyer. No appt. the gal at the first counter asked me who I was. I progressed to tell her I just finished the makeup for The Titanic movie and within 5 minutes I had every sales person and the buyer interested in what it was like to work with James Cameron and Leonardo. The buyer invited me into his office and said how soon can I have kits in these colors. I had no idea this was the Bruins colors also. I said in my head, I am one lucky lady. The buyer also told me I need to be at the college convention in Las Vegas in 3 weeks. So he made a call, got me a booth and that was the beginning of my Sports Fan Face Paint. I called my Dad and told him what was going on and he immediately said trade mark your name and Sports Fan Face Paint immediately. That is called owning your ideas so no one can take it away from you. I was in Las Vegas 3 weeks later and sold 44 colleges. Bingo! It was a lot of work. Like my Dad always said if it was easy everyone would be doing it and would be rich. This was so exciting. I lived and ate my dream of being an entrepreneur day and night. I was driven to be successful and figured what did I have to lose. Without The Titanic would I have the business I have today. I don’t know but it sure helped me. ALOT. One success after another. I never said I could not do a job, Like my Dad said when the Govt called me to make them a new Camouflage Face Paint for the US Marines. You tell them, “Yes, I can do it.” My Dad would say “You can figure it out.” I over came all challenges because I did not look to the left or right. I just looked forward. Did not ask anyone what they thought. I was on a mission to make a life for myself and never depend on anyone but myself. I never forgot how to be nice. Dad always said, if you are nice and become successful you will become nicer. If you are a no good SOB, you will become a bigger SOB when you become successful. I love what I do. I create things people love. Everything I do is quality. I make everything here in the USA. I love what I do. I own every brand I create and I never forget where I came from. I give back for all my blessings. The Govt. Is huge for me. I went on to become the #1 supplier for all the branches of the US Govt and 20 other countries who we supply Bobbie Weiners Camo Face Paint to. I am written up in College Text books and am compared to Sam Walton. That is amazing to me. I am in business today going on 24 years. There have been TV shows made about me. Mark Burnett did one documentary “How’d You Get So Rich”. I have been featured on CNN and loads of TV shows. I travel all over the world as a guest motivational speaker and do Demos of “how to” makeup workshops and seminars. Speak at colleges, high schools etc.. women’s conferences. Like I say, “it ain’t over till it is over”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Miami. My best friends that visit are so happy to come see me anytime of the year. We go to Wynwood to walk around and have a great lunch or dinner. Go back to my house and have a swim. In my pool. Hang out for a bit and then have a BBQ at my house. Next day go to the beach. Have lunch at the beach On the terrace of a Miami Hotel. Next day take a ride down to Key Largo. Stop for lunch on the water and continue to Key West. for dinner that night. Stay over in Key West and take a walk around Duval street in morning and visit Ernest Hemingway’s house and drive home. Next day hang around my house and walk around my neighborhood. I live on the water and it is lovely. To kick off the Halloween Season, Bloody Mary will be sponsoring The Bloody Mary Costume Makeup Contest and doing a Bloody Mary Makeup To Die For “How To” Workshop this coming Labor Day Weekend Sept. 3-5, 2021  for Miami’s very first Horror Convention and Film Festival at the James L Knight Center. Rest a little and then go to Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood Fl. Great restaurants and casino. Go to Comedy Improv at the Hotel and a little gambling after show. Next day rest and relax at my pool and go to Joes Stone Crab for early dinner. My favorite meal in Miami. Then go to Lincoln Drive for a walk and some Miami Beach shopping. I would wrap up their stay with a day at the Gulf Stream Horse Race track and have a wonderful lunch there. I think my friends would have a great time and pack in a lot of sightseeing and fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Sol Weiner, my Dad. Jim Riefess, taught me how to use machines in my factory. I told him I could not do the machines and he said, you will have to learn how to use everything in case some one does not show up. Life must go on.
