We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Vee Burroughs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon Vee, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Everything doesn’t happen to you it happens for you”. While this may be controversial to some; it has helped me move my mindset from “woe is me, terrible things are happening” to “what is the lesson in this? How can I gain something from this experience?”

What I like most about it is, it allows you to see multiple perspectives within an occurrence or experience. I actually feel as though I’m in control of my reaction rather than allowing something else to control my emotions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart is, My ability to talk through my healing journey and be very vulnerable about that every day emotions we feel as human beings. I am most excited about sharing these experiences with others, it serves a dual purpose that me and the connected audience or listener don’t feel alone in the things that we think and feel.

It has been a very difficult road professionally and personally. I think they intersect a lot, and that affirmation I mentioned earlier Has truly helped me stay in a growth mindset when it gets difficult. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is, just be yourself, all the time. I think we often look for validation, to feel accepted to feel heard and we bend and shape ourselves to people and things just to feel that.

Through that, I learned that it’s ok to not be ok, it’s perfectly fine to be the one person who doesn’t agree, and it’s more than fine to remove myself from all the things that do not serve me in a positive conducive way.

What I would want the world to know about me is, I am but a reflection of them. The power to heal is already inside of them, the power to love without Borders is already there, and the self mastery to achieve anything is waiting for you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh gosh! I’m such an introvert, I think I have to exit this and look at Google for a second, lol. No but, I love the outdoors so there’s a lot a of nature trails and springs here so that’s one thing, there is also a amazing vegan restaurant called Ethos. I promise even if you’re not vegan you were going to love everything on this menu and say I really can’t believe this is all vegan!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, my mothers an amazing poet and my father has an amazing voice and beautiful business mind. They’ve always believed in my ability to do something great. My daughters who push me everyday to live in my purpose of music, and not my day job. They literally ask me, “dad when will you stop doing your job and just do music for a living?”

The beautiful city of Orlando, to which, I’ve been able to experiment with my sound as an outsider from Brooklyn NY.
