Meet Bri White | Personal Fashion Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bri White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bri, how does your business help the community?
We are a queer, nerd-forward personal styling company that helps purpose-driven folks embrace their unique style superpowers. Our mission is to unleash folks’ true potential through confidence, competence, and uncompromised outfit authenticity. Some people may think that fashion is frivolous, or that it’s just not important to think about. But it can be integral to how we express our personality, or even create new opportunities to build relationships with those around is and to find commonality – just think about someone wearing a graphic tee with your favorite band on it and how you’re more likely to start a conversation with that person because they share a similar interest!
At Vostra Moda, we take time to get to know and listen to our clients, and we give them permission to explore and love their style, and many times, learn to love or reconnect with themselves and their dreams in the process. Because they feel good, it motivates them to spread that positivity and authenticity to those around them. And we are committed to holding space for those in marginalized communities and focus on education and intentionality to improve the world one stylish client at a time!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the big things that set Vostra Moda apart from other fashion stylists is that we are not only a queer-owned business, but we are self-proclaimed nerds who fully embrace and encourage others to embrace their nerdiness as well! When Vostra Moda first started, I believed it needed to look like the other female-led styling businesses I saw around me, from the language I used in my copy, to the color choices for the website, and even what I wore for social media posts and photos.
But over time, I realized what set me apart and made ME unique in my approach to styling was also what makes me unique in personality – my interest in the hero’s journey, and embracing my passion for a long history of cosplay, video games, and fantasy novels/movies/TTRPGs (tabletop role-playing games).
Even our clients who may not be self-identified “nerds” appreciate that we know life can be hard enough, so why not make things fun as we learn how to “slay our closet monsters” and “level up our wardrobes” in a way that is still supportive and teaches you about personal styling, but is also enjoyable to participate in. One of our main values is collaboration after all!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a fashion stylist, many of my friends ask my favorite places to go for shopping trips, and I’ve been lucky enough to share them with a few people who have visited me over the past year!
I’m a huge fan of The Garment District in Cambridge MA! They have a full thrift store on their upper level, and on the main level, it’s partly a costume store and partly what they call the “Pay by the Pound Pile” – a literal 800lbs palette of clothing gets unleashed in the room for folks to go through, pick whatever they want from, put it in their bag, and then weigh the bag at the end of their adventure and pay by the pound. I’ve found some of the most unique items while sorting through that area and I always have fun introducing their store to friends!
The second store I recommend, which is further away from the city, but still an absolute treasure trove of items, is M&C Clothing and Gifts in Amherst NH. They are a local consignment store that caters to everyone in the family, and has not only the traditional clothing sections and shoes for men, women, and juniors but also a maternity and Kids section!
They even have vintage and designer-brand areas as well as local artisan items! I love bringing my local NH/MA clients to this store to shop new-to-you pieces and doing events and workshops with the owners Scott and Irene!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife, Sam, deserves SO much credit and recognition for her constant support and encouragement. In addition to being a supportive spouse, she also co-founded Vostra Moda with me, helped create the beautiful website we now have, and is constantly coming up with new ideas and ways that we can be more accessible to our clients and viewers so that every single person feels like a welcome part of our community. I quite literally couldn’t have done this without her skillsets, encouragement, and ongoing support!
