We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Hopper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Most people think that when you start your own business or you work for yourself and become your own boss that you can then create your own schedule and have more time off. This is so untrue. Most people don’t realize that when you own your own company you then play every role within the business. Even if you hire employees or independent contractors to work under you, there is still a process or training these people essentially, “your way”. You have to develop a business plan, your mission statement, each position and role, finances, licensing, payroll, marketing, scheduling, benefits, location, short term goals, long term goals and so much more. As your business grow, most of these things change over time. As the owner, being apart of the daily process is very important when establishing a culture within your brand and for the business growth. Nobody is going to care about your business like yourself so you must stay on top of the daily routines and constantly check to make sure operations are running properly. With my first location, my work life balance started to seem as if it were smooth sailing by year three, but as soon as I opened my second location it was like starting a whole new business all over again and I find my balance slowly deteriorating into only work time and no personal or family time. I would expect this to balance out after another two-three years once this location is self sufficient. It definitely takes patience before finding that balance.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Yng aesthetics lounge is a speakeasy style medspa, boutique and art gallery. When you walk in the door you are offered a complimentary water, glass of wine or champagne. We ask you to browse the boutique while waiting for an aesthetician to bring you back for a service. We have a full boutique with clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories. We offer medical grade products that are 100% guaranteed to help with any skincare concerns. We have anything from intensive retinol to natural and vegan brands. We offer medical grade skincare services such as facials, microneedling, JetPeels, IPL, peels, microblading, body contouring and more. All of our medspa rooms are hidden doors behind my sisters artwork and all throughout our boutique her artwork is displayed and for sale upon request. Hence the name “Yng” which stands for “you’ll never guess” my age, where I got my outfit, that I recieve monthly facials, that this is a speakeasy medspa, boutique and art gallery. We also support other locally women owned businesses and carry lots of their handmade pieces and jewelry. Yng is meant to inspire and empower women to few beautiful in their own skin, to work together and help lift each other up. We offer men services as well. When you think of Yng I want it to remind others to work together, to compliment one another to uplift each others souls.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well we are right in the heart of downtown west palm beach. First I would bring my friend Buccan on palm beach island for an amazing dinner. The next day we could visit the EAU for a fun time in the sun by their pool, outdoor restaurants and a nice massage in their relaxing spa. In south Florida a Sunday funday boat day is always needed and we could cruise down to jupiter and Tequesta and visit all Love street bars and restaurants, square grouper and Guanabanas. Another fun activity could be to head to drive shack and hit some golf balls while enjoying so appetizers and drinks with friends!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It takes a village. I have many people in my life that I owe my success to but I would like to start with the woman who got me to believe in myself and helped highlight my passion for what I do today. I started going to see Vanny as my aesthetician to help me with my skin and she convinced me to go to school for aesthetics because she could tell I was extremely passionate about skincare. Vanny made it possible for me to go to school at the school she was attending which then lead me to my next chapter leading to my successful career. I attended Laser and Beauty Institute in Jupiter Florida. This is where I met Stephanie and Darlene. These two women have mentored me all the way through school and continue to today! They helped me learn how to manage and run my own business even just as an aesthetician! I owe a huge thanks to these wonderful mentors as well! My grandparents are the ones who believed in me at a young age and brand new to the industry and helped me financially with a loan to get started and on my feet. If it wasn’t for them I would have never been able to venture off on my own into the world of owning my own business. Lastly, opening my second location I have to thank my sister and my best friend for believing in my brand and coming together to help with a new vision or rebranding and opening my own store front location! My sister, Mariah’s artistic qualities is why the store is so beautifully put together and I wouldn’t have been able to build the walls without Megan! Today the store runs smoothly because of us three as the leadership team to help operate, empower and guide our wonderful employees and clientele. The list goes on to my parents for the love and support, my amazing boyfriend and my loving son for all sacrificing time with me and understanding what it takes to run your own business.
