We had the good fortune of connecting with Caitie Corradino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caitie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I created Full Soul Nutrition because it is my absolute passion to help people break free from body shame and the cycle of “yo-yo dieting” – so that they can feel energized for the truly fulfilling things in life (like building a career, having beautiful relationships, learning, traveling, exploring, creating, and more)!
I believe that healing your relationship with food is best achieved through holistic nutrition counseling because deep healing happens through the individualized, supportive, and authentic relationships fostered in a counseling setting. This inspired me to create a private practice.
I was also driven to create my business because there is just SO much conflicting (and harmful) nutrition information out there. So many people are at war with their bodies, depriving themselves of nourishing meals, and devoting so much brain space to trying to figure out “the best” way to eat. It breaks my heart to see this.
At Full Soul Nutrition, I am committed to busting nutrition myths and clarifying and individualizing nutrition for each of my clients.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am committed to offering a service that is truly holistic.
I am a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from NYU. With this, I consider myself a nutritionist “first” – but I also have extensive education and experience in body image healing, yoga, fitness, and other wellness-related areas.
I have my Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Psychology, which has provided me with a strong psychology and counseling foundation.
I have also been a Registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Personal Trainer for over 10 years. I also hold certificates in mat pilates and trauma-informed yoga.
I am also a certified reiki healer. Reiki is a form of complementary therapy that aims to help the flow of energy in the body and remove blocks, in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure.
So as my clients are learning to eat well, I also help them improve their body image, heal their relationship with exercise, ground themselves in mindfulness practices, and explore holistic therapeutic modalities to regulate the nervous system.
This comprehensive approach allows my clients to make nutrition changes that are truly effective, enjoyable, and sustainable!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am currently based in New York City – which is full of so many wonderful ways to spend your time! My ideal day in New York City involves grabbing a to-go breakfast with an iced coffee and taking a morning walk through Central Park…then attending a fun group fitness class (I love the dance classes at 305 Fitness!)…then going for lunch or brunch in the West Village…wandering around a waterfront park like the Westside Highway…then going to an event, a concert, a basketball game, or a hockey game at Madison Square Garden. But I also love New York City days where I am “on the clock” at Full Soul Nutrition. I love when my morning walk in Central Park is followed by a day of seeing clients in my office space or virtually. I am lucky to love what I do!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One of the greatest privileges I’ve ever been given was access to the resources, tools, and mentors that I needed to recover from my own eating disorder.
I want to dedicate my shoutout to some of the amazing dietitians and educators who helped me fully recover and discover the Intuitive Eating approach to nutrition:
-Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch (the creators of the Intuitive Eating framework who I am grateful to be trained and supervised by)
-Christy Harrison (host of the Food Psych podcast that completely altered my perspective on nutrition and health in my late college years)
-Jessi Haggerty (a Boston-based dietitian who was my mentor in college, my first employer when I first became an RD, and the person who encouraged me to take the leap and start my own private practice)
Because of these amazing dietitians who came before me, I learned to listen to my body and implement habits that honor my body’s ever-changing needs. And now, I know how to fuel in a way that allows me to experience the fun, beauty, fullness, and deliciousness of life…without getting lost in needless details or depriving myself. Because of my mentors, I have defined my personal wellness necessities and have been able to help many clients do the same!
