We had the good fortune of connecting with Camara Aunique Helps and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Camara Aunique, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is one of the best gifts I was blessed with; I took one when I said yes to learning makeup and becoming one of the most sought-after artists, I took another when I stepped out fully to be a full-time freelancer, I took another risk when I said yes to starting the first faith-based beauty line when no one was talking faith in the beauty industry I did it. The risks I’ve taken have inspired others to step out and be who God called them to be, but they also helped me stand firm in my gifts and identity and understand my true purpose.

I like to think we don’t do the things were called to make it about us; we do it to make it about the ones coming after us to know it’s okay to believe bigger and trust God.

My favorite scripture is
Proverbs 3:5 NIV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding; in all your ways, submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

To fully trust in the fact you have a purpose and believe that you have a calling on your life comes with not allowing your head to get in the way, and sometimes even our hearts can get in the way after disappointments and setbacks from the last risks you took. But I choose to look at every setback as a revelation of me conquering on level and gaining wisdom to go to the next.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have been doing makeup for over 14 years and freelancing for 12; I started my career by encouraging myself and believing I can be one of the best. Was it easy? No. But in the end, I was able to not only build a successful brand but also take what I’ve learned and pour it back into artists after me by teaching for some of the biggest companies and the number one makeup school in la. Overcoming challenges comes with knowing when to pivot and how to trust the process, out of the many lessons I learned, the one that sticks out the most is always move with a spirit of excellence; this business is about serving others, serving in excellence, and it will be returned to you, and when it’s not don’t take it personally and allow God to pour back into you.

Camara Aunique Beauty is a faith-based beauty line that started in 2018 honoring, The iconic women in the bible; not only do I teach you how to see your beauty through the eyes of God I also teach you to see him in a way that doesn’t make you feel condemned but loved fiercely.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was visiting me, I would take them to the park or a hiking trail. I love being outdoors and experiencing nature. Then maybe a nice restaurant where the food is good and the view is nice too, I love liberty house in jersey city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All my credit has to go to God, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for his mercy, love, and faithfulness.
