We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron Graves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cameron, what principle do you value most?
What means the most to me when it comes to values and principals, would have to be authenticity and being original. This is most important to me when creating my own work. I take a lot of inspiration from other artists and creatives but I still want my work to be its own creation and idea.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets me apart from others would be the way I make my photos look. Each photo is different. I never know what I will make next. What I am most excited about is a small photo book that I am currently working on. Each photo will be taken on 35 mm film. I’m genuinely excited for this mainly because I want to show myself my own growth in photography, this is also my first time working with film. I am proud, because I continue to surprise myself with each piece I make. Since I Have started taking photos Ive continuously grown as a person and a creative. I don’t consider myself to be a photographer or to define myself as an artist. It’s always felt natural to me. Honestly I don’t think I have made it anywhere with my photography, I’ve simply just been taking photos and enjoying it. The only challenges that come to mind when doing photography or art in general would probably be social media. In this sense a lot of people think you need followers or likes to make something of yourself and thats not the case. A huge lesson that I have learned is that you have to create or make art, and even photography for your self because it makes you feel good as a person. If you’re doing all of these things just to make money or prove that you’re better than someone, or even just to gain influence it won’t work. What I want others to know about me is that much of my work is personal. To those that see my work or the small details in my photos, theres a reason for everything.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting my first stop would for sure be Miami. Thats my go to for everything. From there we would go to Lot 11 skatepark and to get taco’s after. As for the rest of the week probably go thrifting and just see where the day takes us. To finish it off tattoos at the end of the week.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My close group of friends and family have given me all the support I could ever ask for. Wether it’s a place to stay for the night or coming up with new idea for a photo. My friends have always supported me from day one and I am more than grateful for having them in my life. As for my family they have always pushed me to become a better person in all aspects of life, and instilled the idea of taking pride in my work.
