We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance. It has definitely changed over time!! I would say this is because of things calming down with the pandemic and the increase in clientele. I started my services during the pandemic and we still had many restrictions. The need for the services increased when things started to open back up and restrictions was lifted. Lash Extensions is an enhancement just like makeup, therefore when people started attending parties, clubs, restaurants, etc. , it became a high requested service. This also led to the increase in clients.

I then had to figure out my balance with work and my personal life. I work hard and contribute a lot to my business and clients, but i’m also a dedicated mother who contribute a lot of time to my children. I have three kids with three different personalities lol. I make it my business to be there for their needs and be a supportive mom to each one of them no matter what they may have going on. I make sure that I find a balance in both aspects of my life. But so far I am managing and I’m super proud of myself for doing do. Its not easy but it gets done! I pat myself on the back (smiles).

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Lash Artist. I love applying extensions and enhancing the eyes. It is very exciting to see my work on others. Sometimes they leave out with so much confidence, and that alone is very exciting. Seeing their face expressions and hearing the happiness in their voices is what makes me proud of myself.

What sets me aside from others is my customer service and my honesty. I try my best to explain to explain the process to my new clients and those who has never worn extensions. I also let them know my thoughts , opinions and what would be best for them. For example, if I feel like a certain style would not look up to part for them and their eyes, I would suggest what I feel is best and then let them make their decision. This is because everyone eyes are different and even their styles are different. If I feel that their natural lashes are damaged and would not stand to certain styles ,weights or lengths, I would inform them and recommend what I think would be best to ensure healthy lashes.

Some lessons that I leaned along the way is communication! This is they key. When communicating and listening to clients, I learn so much. What I want the world to know about me is I have big dreams!! It may take me a little more time to get to where I want to be but I will get there. I am learning a lot on my own and I am building my brand on my own. So please continue to be patient with me (smile)

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well for me, I’m a food Junkie. I loooveeeee to eat! Restaurants with nice cocktails will be ideal for me. I love trying different spots. To have a good time and hang out I would say Wynwood, Miami design district, and anywhere along the beaches. But where exactly I would take them depends on the person and their interest.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have had support from several people and in different ways. I would like to thank my friends and family who has been there for me and showed support, rather it was coming for services or simply sharing my page, getting my name out there, and sending clients my way. I would like to thank my kids for being patient and understanding when I have busy days. I would like to thank those who give me advice and help with questions that I may have.

I would like to send a special thank you to my boyfriend for his continuous support. He listens to me daily about my ups and downs of the business, my wants, needs and most importantly my goals and dreams. And though somethings may sound repetitive, he never makes me feel as if it is. He has been my human diary! He has been there for me and with me from the start of my brand and I am forever grateful.
