We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos de Varona and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlos, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is work ethic. That and knowing when to step back and giving my team the room they need to push further and break new ground. I made sure to build a crew that gets along with each other and is complementary to each other. I always hire top of the line talent with serious work ethic and skills. Attitude is first before skills. I cant stand having a highly creative diva on set, that would never happen. When people feel good, they work good.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Chroma House, a video production company based in Miami, FL. What sets us apart from other companies like us is our attention to detail and high production quality. We only hire top tier crew members in their respective fields and keep things as professional and cost effective as possible. I would like to think that our easy going attitude is what keeps our long term clients around and has them referring others. It was not an easy road to get here. At first it felt like this would go nowhere but I was persistent and started to mold my brand around other companies that inspired me. One of the most important things I did was not wait for the jobs to come. I would make free videos for companies, or redesign my website, or update my reel, constantly. I never stopped moving and thats what I think helped me get here to where I am today. One of the most important lessons I learned was that less is more. You, as a business owner, are completely in control of how your brand is perceived. It is your job to curate your brand the way you want others to see you. The ability to see your company in the 3rd person is priceless, it will help you correct mistakes, and pave new ways for success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever people visit us from out of town, we make sure to take them to 3 spots in Miami, 1. Wynwood, the art district, 2. Key Biscayne, for some island fun, and 3. Little Havana, the hispanic cultural center of Miami. Those three spots are a must see if you’ve never been in Miami before. AND… they also serve as a great backdrop for film production!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is dedicated to my mother who always taught me that nothing comes easy, and that if I want something I will have to fight tooth and nail for it.
