We had the good fortune of connecting with Carmelie Jean-Pierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carmelie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being a private person, I am more inclined to keep a lot to myself in order to protect my business and my career. When launching Naked Rebel, I quickly learned that I had to ask for help and to not be afraid to ask for exactly what I want. Had I not taken the risk of stepping outside of my comfort zone by being clear and direct I would have made my life more difficult and missed out on key pieces that align with the vision I have for Naked Rebel.

What should our readers know about your business?
My love for swimwear is fueled by my love for travel. Swimwear is the most important item in my luggage. After realizing that my friends and strangers would constantly ask me where I got my swimsuits from, I decided to curate a space for that would combine my two loves.

It most certainly has not been easy to launch a swimwear line especially in the middle of a pandemic; where I have faced countless of production and shipping delays, but through perseverance and a commitment to my brand, I have pushed through to bring my vision to life.

I’m also huge advocate for women feeling free and comfortable in their own skin. Because the human body is overly sexualized in our society, Naked Rebel is here to empower its Rebels to embrace their body, regardless of “imperfections” or society’s expectations. We’re celebrating feeling comfortable in your skin, owning your sexiness, and taking that journey around the world.

Those are the things that set us a part from a lot of swimwear brands out there, coupled with the fact that we offer a luxury experience in getting your swimwear without the wallet crushing price tag.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For dinner I would take my friend to Louie Bossi. We would then hit up a pole studio for a class. For drinks we’re going with Komodo. If clubbing was our vibe Club Euro would be our go to spot. For late night tacos, Bodega is always the wave and Sunday brunch is at Shooter’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been so many amazing people that were instrumental to my journey! First I have to shoutout my sister Jessica, who has been my self proclaimed financial advisor, sounding board, and over all supporter for all things Naked Rebel. My amazing friends who have given me unconditional support throughout this process both asked and unasked. To my biggest supporter, you know who you are, thank you! My marketing team at ElevatedLux who take care of all the things I don’t care to do LOL. And of course I have to shout out and thank every single person who has made a purchase from Naked Rebel.

One last thing, shoutout to Youtube University!
