We had the good fortune of connecting with Landy Munoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Landy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is by far one of the most difficult thing you can ever do or learn how to do. For me working in health care things are always changing. I began with my mom running a staffing agency shortly after we moved into Home Health and later branched out into therapy. Deciding to take the risk and branching out into those new sectors is what has led to our success; within healthcare, it is very important to be able to provide as many services to clients as possible. Risk always has to be assessed and weight out on whether it can be worth it or not but for me, as cliche as it sounds, I’ve found that going with my gut and making those decisions is more often than not the best thing to do and has led to lots of growth in my business.
What should our readers know about your business?
We offer a variety of services and amongst that is Home Health, Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy. It has not been easy getting here! But luckily we’ve come this far. We started off with a staffing agency which lead us to a Home Health Agency. From there we opened up the physical therapy clinic and continued to branch out to mental health, behavioral therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Yes it sounds like a lot! And although it is, it’s all connected. Most of the time our patients receive multiple therapies at the same time; therefore, it’s easier for them to get all of their therapies together in one place, rather than having to drive around to different clinics. I think that’s how we’ve been able to work so well growing this business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Considering I live in Miami, I’m fortunate enough to say we have a lot to do so for me that’d be means brunch with unlimited mimosas and hookah, then off to day drink and dance in Wynwood! Wynwood is a great place to party (day or night), chill, walk around, and take awesome pictures! Any other day of the week, going to Miami Beach is a must lots of awesome places to eat and drink out there like the new restaurant Carbone and Big Pink during the day, also Bodega is a lot of fun! The water is amazing. For dinner you can go to the Time Out Market where Miami’s best local food vendors have kiosks set up and it’s a perfect place for you to try a little bit of everything. Versailles is another must for some of the best authentic Cuban food! And for dessert, definitely must go to Azúcar to stay within that Cuban vibe with some interesting homemade flavors like Ave Maria (vanilla ice cream, guava, and Ave Maria cookies)!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt any and all success I currently have and will ever have is accredited to my mother, she introduced me to the world of healthcare and showed me all that is possible within it and because of those initial businesses we have together I have been able to branch out to where I am today. Additionally, the majority of the things I’ve learned, believe it or not, have been through trial and error. There’s isn’t some kind of “rule book” on what you should and shouldn’t do. For therapists and medical licensees, yes, I need to follow the specific policies and procedures on what I have them do; but learning how to lead so many businesses, manage employees, deciding which way to take my business, risk taking, etc., has all been through trial and error. There’s always going to be ups and downs in any kind of business, but the important thing is to not get discouraged, learn from your mistakes, and get up and try again.
