Hi Carmelina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
To Do With Kids Miami was started in 2017 as a local resource for Miami Dade and Broward County area families to find information about what to do with kids in one place!

The most important factor behind the success of To Do With Kids Miami is our dedication to our community. We understand the pulse of South Florida families—we’re parents ourselves—and we recognize the constant need for fresh, engaging, and family-friendly activities. Our mission is simple: to provide busy parents with ideas for fun and fantastic outings, classes, events, and other things to do with the kids around Miami Dade and Broward County area. Majority of the events listed are either free or low cost to attend.

Ultimately, our success is rooted in the relationships we’ve forged with our audience. By consistently delivering valuable content, fostering community engagement, and nurturing authentic connections, we’ve not only built a brand but also a thriving community of families who rely on us to enrich their lives with memorable experiences.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In 2015 I immigrated from my country Venezuela to South Florida with my husband and our two children, who were 4 and 6 years old at the time. Making the decision to leave our country was not easy, but we knew it was necessary to seek better opportunities and a brighter future for our family.

Upon arriving in Miami, we are faced with the challenge of adjusting to a new life on a budget. Every penny counted, and we were looking for ways to enjoy and make the most of our new city without spending too much. That’s when I set about finding free events and accessible activities to take my kids on the weekends.

So I decided to create an Instagram page that I called: @todowithkidsmiami, with the purpose of sharing all those places and events with other people who might be interested. From there, this beautiful community full of resources and support for families with children in South Florida was born.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami offers a variety of exciting and family-friendly attractions that are perfect for kids of all ages including interactive museums like Miami children Museum and Frost Science Museum, featuring exhibits and activities designed to educate and entertain children; The largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, the Zoo Miami with more than 3,000 animals from all over the world; Beautiful beaches with calm water, nature trails, playgrounds, picnic areas and other amazing new places to discover with you family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt, my children have been an invaluable source of inspiration and support on my way to carry out all these activities. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and infectious joy have served as a constant reminder of the purpose behind everything I’ve done. By seeing the world through their eyes, I can find new perspectives and discover opportunities to create meaningful experiences for other families in the community.

In addition, having their support and participation in the planning and execution of these activities has made the process even more rewarding and enriching. In short, my children are not only the reason behind To Do With KidsMiami, but also the heart and soul that drive its continued success. What a privilege to have them as such an important part of my entrepreneurial journey!
