We had the good fortune of connecting with Carmen Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carmen, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My career in the private household industry started 16 years ago in NYC. It all began with an incredible agency—one of New York’s most established agencies—that set the stage for my career. From there, I was recruited by a couple other firms, before going on my own!
A London-based startup offered me the opportunity to spearhead their US expansion. In NYC I built connections and embraced the challenge. Within a year, we spread our wings to Los Angeles, and then Fort Lauderdale. with a yacht staffing division.
After almost 6 years with the company I decided it was time to start Hudson Staffing.
Managing, recruiting, and running the US operations gave me the confidence to go on my own! So, I took the leap and founded Hudson Staffing.
Why? I learned the in’s and out’s of working in boutique agencies to larger scale agencies and wanted to bring that all together with Hudson Staffing. I wanted to work with nice people and turn away those that didn’t have the same ideas on how everyone should work together!
At Hudson Staffing, we’re not just an agency; we’re matchmakers. I love speaking directly with candidates and clients, understanding their needs, personalities, household dynamics and dreams. It’s about that one-on-one magic—the art of finding the perfect fit in your home or office.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Carmen Garcia and I founded Hudson Staffing to provide a unique boutique agency experience to the household staffing process. With over 16 years experience in recruiting for households and executive searches I personalizes each individual search for my clients and candidates.

I was born and raised in Miami, FL where I graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. After graduating, I began working with Miami Dade County Public Schools where I worked in Education for over 6 years. I then went on to pursue a career in sales with The Ritz Carlton Hotel Caribbean Sales Team. In 2009 I moved to New York City where I began my career in recruiting. I was asked to join one the largest and most well known household staffing agencies in New York where I spent 3 years. Then, I was recruited by an international start up agency and was hired to build the US division of the company. As the US Director for over 6 years I managed, hired and trained recruiters in New York, Los Angeles and Florida. The US division flourished through our efforts and became a very successful presence in the United States.

I decided to bring all my experience together and open my own recruiting firm. Hudson Staffing provides a unique and tailored search for each individual client. The agency provides searches all over the US targeting New York, California and Florida. Hudson Staffing also partners with several international recruiting firms to offer overseas staffing needs!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting Miami I would recommend spending time exploring Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Wynwood and then take a drive to the Keys. Miami has grown so much in the past couple of years and there is something for everyone to enjoy. I love the beach and being in the water so I would bring anyone who is coming to visit Miami on a boat day seeing Miami on the water, swimming and enjoying the sun. I would also take them on a day trip to the Keys. We would first stop for breakfast at the best spot in town Mangrove Mike’s Cafe in Islamorada (ask for Paige when you arrive) then we would do a 1/2 day snorkel trip at John Pennekamp and finish the day with a late lunch at the Fish House in Key Largo!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to all of those who led me to New York City. A shout-out to my family—to my friends and my incredible colleagues. David, my first boss who saw potential in me and opened the door to an exciting opportunity in one of New York City’s most established agencies. Working alongside Sonia, Julia, Anita and Sam was transformative. They taught me not just the in’s and out’s of household staffing, but also the art of doing it with kindness and grace. As I stepped into the role of a recruiter, I discovered the power of teamwork. It wasn’t about cutthroat competition; it was about collaboration. I would also like to thank Amanda my fist full time employee at Hudson Staffing, for helping me with the day to day recruiting process and being an amazing person and a great addition to our team! To all the candidates I’ve had the privilege to meet, thank you for sharing your stories and dreams. To our clients, your trust in our agency fueled our success. And to my fellow recruiters, you’ve been my partners in making the magic happen! You’ve all played a part in the story of Hudson Staffing, and for that, I am forever grateful!
