We had the good fortune of connecting with Ceion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ceion, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks are one of the most important things to do. Getting out of what you know and are comfortable with to explore and find new potential opportunities can unlock a different world, and can teach you so many lessons that propel you forward. Since I’ve started this journey as an artist taking risks is something I’ve always done. And in doing that I’ve found myself in some compromising situations but it only made me better. More understanding more okay with falling and getting up with a new mindset and drive to go and take and conquer the next challenge.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is the sound that I’m working to solidify and perfect. Coming up listening to the greats of R&B like D’Angelo and Maxwell. That feel that you get and that sound is what I want to embody and modernize to keep it alive. I’m most proud of my growth as an artist. The crazy journey of overcoming self doubt and self worth to be able to create the way I do today and how much more confident I am in myself actually amazes me now. There’s still work to be done but I’m so proud at how far I’ve come. And getting here wasn’t easy at all. There were a lot of alone nights just writing music throwing it out. Constantly bothering myself to be better mentally. Pushing past the me I wasn’t comfortable with to be able to come into the me I am today, which goes back to risk taking. Situations happened that instilled a lot of self doubt but I knew in order to grow and be a better artists I had to work them out internally to let them go and push forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First day I’d take them to universal to see an iconic theme park then we’d get some hotpot at this unknown gem called Nine Spice. Start Tuesday off with some breakfast from the Keke’s Cafe. Then we would spend some time at the beautiful Millenia mall. Finally we would end the day with Taco Tuesday at Rocco’s Tacos. Wednesday would be the day we spend at the springs. Having fun in the water and sun, more than likely munching on some Publix subs. Thursday would be a relax day to prepare for the weekend fun. Later that night we would visit one of the many hookah lounges we have here in town. Friday we would go down to Kissimmee and start off the day with an escape room then slide next door to Player 1 video game bar. After the fun we would end the day with some authentic Hispanic food. Saturday would be the perfect day to visit a winery. Sip some wine while enjoying the Florida weather. At night we would hit up downtown Orlando and spend the night bar hopping on Wall Street. Sunday we would go back downtown for the typical Sunday brunch, then go to Lake Eola and stroll through the farmers market they have every Sunday.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Man where do it start? I want to think everyone that’s ever believed in me through this journey and helped me get to where I am today. There are so many different stories and people and I can’t thank them all. All my friends that’s supported me and helped me find opportunities, up late working on content or projects, the late night conversations of being a better person and artist. To the parents I know with children of their own that took me in like a sun and instilled a level of confidence that I didn’t have and gave me a place to stay when I needed it and also just loved and supported me. Thank you to the teachers who set me up to be here. From elementary to high school. You know who you are. I appreciate you guys so much. The Orlando music scene. If it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t have been nominated for the best R&B artist in the city with no music released. Thank you to this city. My beautiful city of Orlando, who’s seen it all. From start to now. Thank you.
