We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlotte Wissel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charlotte, what do you attribute your success to?
The company formed and grew around the concept of bringing history and art back to life within the modern home. Coming from Europe, I have a love of history and my husband works within the fashion industry. I found that people felt pigeonholed into very ultra-modern, stark white and cream open concept designs and were unable to envision the merging of antiques, art, fashion, and interior design. I created a company that used the best of home design, from high end handmade wallpapers to custom created furniture and art. This allowed for the spaces to be curated specifically to feel sophisticated, inviting and to allow conversation to flow from the showcased artifacts, and one-of-a-kind design pieces.
Over the years Artemis Virtu has grown into a company that provides a distinctive service to residences and yachts across south Florida. Incapsulating hand produced workmanship with designs engineered to showcase the unique within the high-end market. Think Indiana Jones mixed with 5-star hotels.
What should our readers know about your business?
We have great things coming this year! Keeping ideas fresh and up to date whilst making sure the styles do not go out of fashion is a challenge that we have spent a lot of our time working on for our clients. With this in mind, I am very excited about two future projects. The first being our first coffee table book of our looks, advice, and direction of unique homes and designs. The second is the big one! – although not too much can be said about it right now, it’s a fusion of fashion and design that I believe will truly put Artemis Virtu on the map.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our office and workshops are located within walking distance of the Hardrock Casino in Davie so that’s always a first stop! i love being able to show people our premises then head over to the Casino for some great entertainment or shopping. I also have a love for nature and plants so anything outdoors, which includes Flamingo Road – a great location comprised of plant nurseries and Flamingo Gardens, an incredible 60 acre preserve. It provides education about the natural and cultural heritage of South Florida and the Everglades through their botanical gardens and wildlife sanctuary.
Lastly, a trip to the Perez Art Museum which is always at the forefront of modern art and emerging art styles.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Peter and my mother-in-law, Barbara are always my supportive sounding board and are both inspirations to me. Talking through designs, plans and future goals with them always provides me with great advice and encouragement. My mother, Danielle, is a huge inspiration to me; growing up she would show me to do create, draw, paint and build things around the house and make each room our own style. This clearly inspired me to create a larger scale business exactly around this ideology. Lastly, my clients. They have always been so supportive as my business grows and I am so thankful for whatever challenges and requests they bring to me in the future.
