Meet Chase Fernander | Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chase Fernander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chase, what do you attribute your success to?
Authenticity. I think it can be really tempting to lean into the trends of the day and what other people and other brands are doing but the thing that makes me relevant and keeps me relevant is that fact that I’m me. And there are different sides to me and so depending on the situation I’m able to draw on all aspects of myself but I always show up as Chase because that’s my super-power. No one else can do that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a fusion of my Bahamian roots, Caribbean influences, and global sounds, creating a unique blend that sets me apart from others in the industry. What I’m most proud of is my ability to authentically express myself through music, and connect with others without compromising myself and my beliefs..
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. It’s been a 20-year journey filled with challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. However, I’ve always believed in my passion and talent, which has driven me to overcome obstacles with resilience and determination.
One of the key lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of staying true to myself and my artistic vision. In an industry that can sometimes prioritize commercial success over authenticity, I’ve stayed grounded in my roots and stayed committed to creating music that reflects who I am.
I want the world to know that my brand and story are about more than just music; they’re about cultural pride, resilience, advocacy, education and pushing boundaries. I want to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their dreams, no matter the challenges they face.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow, I feel like anywhere I take them would be amazing lol. The Bahamas is a vibe in itself and vibes can be created anywhere with the right people and the right atmosphere. But the best way to experience the Bahamas I think is to Island hop and get a little bit of everything from the swimming pigs and crystal clear waters of Exuma to the pineapple fields of Eleuthera to pink sands of Harbour Island to the salt fields of Inagua. Every Island in the Bahamas has its own lifestyle and they are each something to experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! There are so many people who have contributed to my story but it would take us a few more interviews to name them all lol. But most notably, my father who inspired my artistry, Missy Elliot who inspired my creativity. Ivan Prosper, my former band leader and friend who recognized and fine-tuned my leadership skills. And to the Bahamian music community and everyone who has supported and believed in my dream – you’ve inspired me to keep going.
