We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsie Cervantes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve kind of always known since i was younger that whatever i did i wanted to be my own boss. So when i found a career i was passionate about i knew that was always my plans…to open up my own business. I’ve always wanted to be independent and i love it!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s a great feeling when you have a career you actually love and enjoy! I think that’s why i am where i am today because it’s a passion of mine to create beautiful hair and make women smile and feel great about themselves. I’m excited to see what the future brings for my career and how much I’ll grow.
I think what got me to where i am now is my passion to be better, to learn more. I’ve worked with amazing stylist ever since i got out of beauty school. Who taught me a lot and have helped me grow in what i do. I’m very grateful for that! It wasn’t easy because i have always been a really shy person. So dealing with people was always a challenge. But i pushed myself to fight that and it’s become so much easier today. I wouldn’t be where I’m at if i didn’t do that.
In the years of being a hairstylist I’ve learned that keeping up with education is really important in my career. Learning the new techniques, and styles that are in to staying in the loop of what the girls want when they come in. And also to better my skills and find what works for me best. Also, I’ve learned to be completely honest with my clients. My priority is to maintain healthy hair so talking to them on what they should and shouldn’t do has helped me build a bond with them to the point in them trusting me. Trust is very important with your clients. They appreciate you much more when you’re honest.
I feel like my brand is more about feeling beautiful in your busy life. I love creating dimensional and blended looks where you don’t have to be touching up constantly because we sometimes just don’t have the time for that! Lol i want my clients to feel confident and keep an easy routine to maintain their hair healthy!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start with a mani-pedi at the cutest nail spot i know, The Nail Garden. Next stop…lunch! Grab some quesadillas and margs at Agave in Pembroke Gardens. Walk it off and get a little shopping in the shoppes at Pembroke gardens ! Head over to Fort Lauderdale for some drinks with cute views at Holly Blue!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends have always been a part of my success. By always sticking by my side, helping me grow and always letting me practice on their hair! Social media and following some of the best hairstylist on there have also been an inspiration on bettering my skills and helping me try something new.
