We had the good fortune of connecting with Chidiebere Oji and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chidiebere, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
We all have one life to live and being alive alone is kind of risking to an extent. My thought process concerning risking is always a win or a lesson to learn from. In life, we all have to take risks. Often times, calculated riskes. Sometimes, based of instincts and courage having it at the back of my mind that I either win or learn from it if it does not turn out well

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art has been my life. When I was about to enter college, I did not know what to do with my life asides to practise art. It was all I could think of to be honest. My journey as an artist has been crazy. When I was in university, I felt I was not good enough. I felt I was not doing so much until I decided to take the bull by the horn and practise and I did practise hard. When the next semester resumed, my classmates were shocked at the way I improved. Some did not believe I created the works I showed them. I even had to prove it right in front of them that I was the one making the works I posted online and brought to class.

One significant thing about my work is emotion. I make art that trigggers peope emotions and make them think deeply. It has been my niche ever since I took making art seriously.

I want to be known as a great artist worldwide. I want my works to portray people’s past life experiences and possibly future events.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a lover of nature, tradtional meals and trying new things. If a friend is to visit, we definitely talk about money, business and investments. I would take him out to visit galleries, we would go swimming, go out and eating tradtional dishes, visit nature parks and party too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off, I want to give a shout out to God almighty. He has been really good to me in though times and great times. To my mum for her support, love and understanding. I am blessed to have her. To my father, brother and sister. They always have my back in many, many, many ways. To my friends turn family. To Uwakwe Chinonye, she is really a germ. Also to shoutoutmiami for this wonderful opportunity.
