We had the good fortune of connecting with Chitarra Monroe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chitarra, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
In a friendly challenge amongst my Uncle David and myself; this creative career chose me. My criminal justice field was my career to retire on so I thought. Until my love for cooking was challenge to be enhanced with the knowledge of culinary and that one challenge has opened so many doors for me. I truly thank my Uncle for seeing in me something great.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Passion sets me aside from others. Even one thrives in a different way and my difference comes from passion.I got here by praying, crying and many sacrifices. It was not easy and it still isn’t easy. Prayer and support is how im over coming. The lessons I’ve learned was never depend on man: God got you and he will never leave me nor forsake me. Dymonds Catering is a company that not only takes your ideas and palate to new heights but give you a sense of ability to relax through your events and just enjoy the creativity that was envision and allow my staff and I to take them to a place of our creative process and show them that they are in great hands.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have so many different cultures here in Miami so it will be just a little culture shock for them. We would visit Wynwood and have Breakfast or Lunch, then we will travel to be a little botanical and do all aquatic activities such as boating, snorkeling, jet skiing and maybe a little paddle boating.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My flowers will be given to my Uncle David for sparking a fire in me to do something that I love; My Grandmother Flossie for telling me that I can achieve any and everything and she will be there every step of the way. My sons AJ and Mike for making sure that I never gave up on myself and my cousins Earsaline and Angel for letting me pitch my ideas, being taste testers for my new product and all.
