Meet Chloe Ravel | Yoga Teacher, Sound Healer, Retreat Leader and Mindset Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Ravel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chloe, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In 2017 I started my wellness brand, The Gemini Rising. My desire to share my story and bring a holistic approach to teaching others how to manage chronic stress and burnout was the catalyst for starting my business.
Growing up as a second-generation Latin American woman, I had the privilege of embracing my Latina culture, language, and traditions. At a young age, I was fortunate to witness my family’s steadfast dedication to hard work. This motivated me to pursue my dreams, but also showed me first-hand the challenges my parents and grandparents faced when navigating a new cultural landscape to provide better opportunities for my family. As an adolescent, I realized the importance of managing stress for overall physical, mental and emotional well-being and saw first hand how the lack of awareness and resources around wellness affected those closest to me.
In my early twenties, I became passionate about making mental health awareness, and education more accessible to working-class populations. During my time working at the International Rescue Committee in Miami, I realized that the culture of “work hard, and fast” was not only negatively impacting the communities I was already serving but it was also interfering with my own personal work-life balance. I craved new solutions to empower myself and others to tackle this issue in a conscious and action driven way.
I purposefully turned to studying more Eastern modalities of health and wellness and became certified as a yoga, meditation, breathwork, and sound therapy practitioner. I began to see drastic changes in my own personal health with the implementation of these new practices and felt inspired to share what I was learning with others. I began to develop mind-body wellness programming, events and other resources for my new community in South Florida and created my wellness brand, The Gemini Rising. Since then, it has been such an incredible journey to continue my dharma of elevating the value of wellness in today’s work-driven world by helping others prioritize themselves.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a teacher, retreat-leader and coach I serve as a guide for others who want to find more balance, vitality, and purpose in their life.
My programs have a well-rounded approach to wellness that are equally rooted in spirituality and science. The services I provide are intentionally curated to support each clients’ individual goals. Classes, workshops and retreats are designed to facilitate experiential learning, while also providing clients with the research behind why these new habits added to their daily routine can empower them to create the outcomes they desire. I believe blending education with enriching holistic experiences is the key to my clients’ success and I am proud to witness the progress they make regularly.
Over the years it’s been a challenge to introduce mindfulness to certain demographics who prioritize productivity over health. Combatting stress in a natural, holistic way is not always the most accepted approach but I have recently seen a significant shift in people’s perspective and willingness to try yoga or meditation as an alternative.
I am grateful to be sharing my story with Shoutout Miami Magazine. Sharing the story of my pursuit for balance, health and happiness has opened many doors for me and for others seeking to prioritize their own health and well-being. It is a privilege to grow alongside other leaders in South Florida, and I look forward to continuing to make our community a happier and healthier place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
South Florida is such a fun place to explore. Lots of nature, international cuisine, diversity, art, & wellness. If a friend was visiting, we would start by exploring Little Havana first to connect with my Cuban-American roots. Hands down it’s an evening at Ball & Chain on Calle Ocho for live music, dancing, Cuban bocadillos, cocktails and maybe some churros for dessert. This place embodies the true pulse of classic Miami and is certainly something all visitors must experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This journey of starting my own business could not have unfolded without the support of friends, family, and mentors. When I started studying yoga, I never imagined that my search for alternate solutions to stress management would lead to such a fulfilling career. I am grateful for my community of loved ones and teachers who recognized my talent and passion for teaching and inspiring others early on. They supported my creative endeavors and believed in me every step of the way.
