We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Lavish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had a 9-5 for about two years of my life and knew that life wasn’t for me. I needed full freedom and creative control of my life and body. I knew the only way to do that was to start a business and become financially independent.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The journey was long and painful but definitely worth it. It all started with me taking fashion style photos for myspace when social media was still an embryo. Back then there was no such thing as an influencer or popular blogger so people were very confused about my daily activities. Throughout the journey I’ve had many roadblocks but always managed to swerve around them and never letting them stop me from my goals. My vision was always very clear and my discipline extremely strong. I knew if I was about to stay balanced and conscious for long periods of time then eventually the competition would fade away. When you get to a certain level of success it’s not about skill but stamina.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place I’d take my friends would be to the usual vegan friendly places that I go like Scen Studio, JaJaJa, Carrot Express, HipCityVeg, Matchaful and SweetGreen. After that we would go check out some showrooms and show them some of my favorite brands at the moment like Ears Of Buddha, WorldsNotMine, Monfrere and Black Paris. After they’ve been nourished and dressed up we would go to Hudson Yards for. the Vessel and down by Wall st to get on the Ferry. After that we would go to Little Island at pier 55 to watch the sunset.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my old boss who told me I wouldn’t be able to find a job with all those tattoos because it was true. I didn’t find a job, but I created a life and career that far surpassed anything I could have ever dreamt about. I would also like to thank my parents for not supporting my career choices but always supporting me emotionally when things didn’t go as planned. I don’t blame them because they never had the vision but always believed in my discipline and motivation so they weren’t too worried. They knew deep inside I would become something just weren’t sure what. Lastly I would like to thank all my photographers who helped and supported me out from day 1, they have seen all the stages of Lavish and its always love every time I see them.
