We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudia Roman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Claudia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks has played a very important role in my career. I decided to open my own studio in the middle of a global pandemic; was I scared…..yes! But I trusted myself and decided to go for it! Even though inside my head I was thinking who is gonna come? People are loosing their jobs… no one is gonna have money for beauty… but I took the risk and it has been amazing!!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business started 4 years ago in a little room inside of a hair salon, I was only doing spray tans at the time. My daughter was 7 years old and I remember driving to school, picking her up and going back to the salon every day. I didn’t have much clientele but I was doing everything possible to get new clients, from Groupon to flyers, to google ads, to beauty pageants . After a year the owner of the salon told me I couldn’t bring my daughter anymore to work so I decided to look for another room. I found one not to far Inside of a lash lounge. Couple of months later my clients started asking me “what else do you do?? “ and I was like mmmm nothing lol and i said to myself maybe I should learn how to do something else! Then I decided to learn Microblading because my sister got it done in Colombia and told me about it. I went to Colombia, got trained and came back but in my mind I was not ready to start doing people’s eyebrows so I took another class in Dominican Republic and It was great. I stayed with the lash lady for another 2 years sharing her space but always wanted to go on my own but didn’t want to borrow money…… I was moving at the speed of cash jeje so it took me longer but I did it! I think the key to be successful is to never give up, to be passionate and positive about the whole process, even hard times… because thats where you learn the most! It hasn’t been easy but its worth the effort and sacrifices. When I finally opened my own studio in the middle of covid 19 I said to myself “if I can Pull this off through covid I can literally do anything!! And I did ❤️

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them wynwood area. Take them to Amara at paraiso restaurant, joia beach club. I love the water so most restaurants I like are on the water. Shuckers grill and Lincoln road
