We had the good fortune of connecting with Coco Naoko and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coco, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk is the bridge between who you are and who you’re meant to become. I’ve always seen it as a necessary leap into the unknown, where fear and faith coexist. Taking risks has been the heartbeat of my journey—whether it was stepping into the studio for the first time, releasing music that felt deeply personal, or choosing to evolve in front of the world.

Risk has taught me that growth doesn’t live in comfort zones; it thrives in the moments where you dare to trust yourself. In my career, taking risks has been less about fear of failure and more about a refusal to settle for mediocrity. It’s in those bold moves that I’ve found clarity, purpose, and an unshakable belief that even if I fall, I’ll rise stronger.

Without risk, there’s no reward worth remembering. Every melody I’ve crafted and every decision I’ve made is proof that the unknown isn’t something to fear—it’s a canvas waiting to be painted with your courage.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of the many facets of who I am—a Jill of all trades, unapologetically and authentically me. From working as a flight attendant to flying planes, from producing my own beats to writing, recording, and engineering my own tracks, I’ve never been content to live within the limits that others try to place on me. What sets me apart is my refusal to fit into any mold—I’m proof that one size doesn’t fit all, and I thrive in the spaces where others say I don’t belong.

What I’m most proud of is controlling my own narrative. I’ve never caved to societal pressures or tried to be someone I’m not. I’ve stayed true to myself, even when it wasn’t the easiest path, and that authenticity is the foundation of everything I create. My journey is one of constant evolution; I’m a student of life and experiences, a world traveler, a self-published author many times over, and, above all, a great mother.

But let me tell you, nothing about my journey has been easy. When you’re breaking generational curses and stepping into the role of the chosen one, challenges are a given. I’ve faced trials that could’ve broken me, but I’ve always chosen to rise. I overcame by leaning into my faith, trusting the process, and remembering my “why”—my children, my purpose, and the legacy I want to leave behind.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are countless, but the most important is this: You can’t let the world define you. You have to stand tall in your truth, even when it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. My story, my art, and my brand are all about that—living boldly, breaking boundaries, and showing the world what’s possible when you dare to dream without limits.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure their trip was unforgettable—a perfect blend of good vibes, personal touches, and unforgettable experiences. Here’s the ultimate itinerary:

Day 1: Welcome & Home Comforts
• Dinner: Kick things off with a home-cooked meal by yours truly. There’s something special about sharing food and wine at home—it’s intimate, personal, and instantly makes you feel like family. Think soulful dishes, rich conversation, and a playlist full of vibes.

Day 2: Art & Energy in Wynwood
• Morning: Explore Wynwood Walls in Miami, where art comes alive. The murals are breathtaking, and the creativity in the air is unmatched. Perfect for pictures and inspiration.
• Lunch: Grab a bite at Coyo Taco. Not only are the tacos ridiculously good, but if you know, you know—the secret back room has energy that’s unmatched. Good food, better vibes.
• Evening: Stroll around Wynwood’s galleries and boutiques, and finish the night with drinks at one of the neighborhood’s trendy spots.

Day 3: Relaxation at Hollywood Beach
• Morning to Evening: Spend the day soaking up the sun at Hollywood Beach. The vibe here is chill but lively, perfect for catching up with a best friend. Enjoy the boardwalk, rent bikes, or just let the ocean breeze set the mood.
• Dinner: Seafood at a local beachside café, where you can eat while watching the sunset.

Day 4: Adventure & Me Time
• Morning: Let’s do something adventurous—maybe jet skiing, top down riding around the city blasting our favorite songs, or even a boat tour to explore the city from the water.
• Evening: A lowkey night with movies, laughter, and snacks at home. Because balance is key.

Day 5: Anywhere I Am
• I always say I’m the most fun, exciting, and interesting person you’ll meet. Anywhere I go, I pass the vibe check. So this day would be all about spontaneity. Maybe we hit a rooftop lounge, dance to live music, or find an awesome Karaoke spot to create unforgettable memories.

Day 6: Brunch & Shopping
• Morning: Indulge in brunch at one of Miami’s chic spots—mimosas are mandatory.
• Afternoon: Hit up local boutiques or shopping districts for unique finds and souvenirs.
• Evening: Finish with a farewell dinner at a high-end restaurant where the food and atmosphere are unforgettable.

Day 7: Reflections & Farewells
• Spend the morning reflecting on the memories made over coffee and pastries. Then, one last trip to the beach for a peaceful goodbye to the water before parting ways.

At the end of the day, the most fun part of the trip would be us—because with the right energy, every moment becomes unforgettable.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout begins and ends with God. Without His guidance, grace, and unwavering love, none of this would be possible. God has been my anchor in storms, my compass when I felt lost, and my constant reminder that every setback is a setup for something greater. His hand has been on my life, molding me through both triumphs and trials, teaching me resilience, patience, and faith.

Next, I give thanks to the lessons wrapped in the actions of the naysayers, the ones who called me scattered, the haters, the non-believers, the users, and the opportunists. They unknowingly pushed me closer to my purpose and taught me the power of perseverance. Every doubt they cast only made my faith stronger and my vision clearer.

And then, my heart belongs to my children. They are my greatest blessings from God, my grounding force, and my eternal inspiration. They see me as a superhero when I feel anything but, and their unconditional love reminds me daily of God’s grace in my life. When I stumble, they remind me to rise; when I doubt, they remind me to believe.

So, my shoutout goes to God, my children, and even those who doubted me—all of whom have played a role in shaping the woman I am today. For that, I am deeply, humbly grateful.
