We had the good fortune of connecting with Connor Porry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Connor, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

The most important factor behind our success is the pickleball community, without that, we can have any of these big events, that everyone loves. Second is our teamwork among the 3 partners and the community we’ve built. Each of us has certain strengths we bring to the team. We have many repeat sponsors and have been building relationships that have helped us grow. Though the matches are competitive, we try to establish a friendly, fun atmosphere where participants can develop friendships and look forward to future tournaments.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

My professional life is in it’s very early stages (I am a 16 year old high school sophomore). Before Pickleball, I was very involved in youth football as both a player and coach for younger teams. I did charity work collecting toiletries for the homeless in my community. In the last couple of years I became involved in growing the sport of Pickleball by reaching out to community leaders raising awareness of the need for open-play at no cost for students and families in our public parks. I’ve helped promote the sport in our school system, and have brought companies together with schools in need of equipment donations to get programs going. I eventually got sponsored by my dream company ROKNE Pickleball. My role in Top Level Pickleball is in promoting our tournaments through social media and being the contact for tournament vendors and sponsors. I enjoy being part of a team that brings people together to have fun, improve their skills, and keep healthy. I’m making incredible connections and friends that I’m sure will last a lifetime.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I’ve had several mentors in my life, paving the way for me. My parents have always been supportive of everything I’ve wanted to do and I’m very thankful for them. My brother Matthew who introduced me to the sport of Pickleball. My partners, Ernie Hernandez and JC Asenjo, who took a chance bringing on a high school teenager onto their team and have become like family to me. Lily Azel, USA Pickleball Ambassador (Miami-Dade) who was always cheering me on and encouraging me to take an active role in making Pickleball more accessible in the community. And so many others who have been willing to help and support me along the way; I am very grateful and know I wouldn’t be where I am without this amazing community.
