We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana wexler Life coach and personal trainer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dana wexler, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I’m always working on myself; trying to learn, study, revamp, and always inspired by others who are successful. I know when I give everything “with my full heart” attention, amazing things can happen. I think I’m very successful and what I do and how I do it mainly comes from a continuous positive outlook. I’m always smiling and happy and I can find a silver lining in nearly everything. I’m also very dedicated to all of my clients, my family, my husband, and my jobs. If I can make somebody happy and make them feel loved and inspired every day, my heart is full and I am proud.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From being a professional dancer for the (Florida) Marlins as well as a performer for Cirque. At 41 I continue to do musical theater. AT my age, being physically active using my body and knowing the importance of mental health and well-being is very important to me. A little background on me if I was born and raised a dancer in the Dance studio as well as a singer and actress. I was in dance major in college; in fact, I graduated college in three years instead of four. I have self-trained to be a super endurance athlete and I’m committed to help my clients achieve their health goals with 24/7support. Plans include – training schedules as well as all their meal plans. As stated, I am still active in musical theatre as I recently began the show rock of ages and in rehearsals as we speak. I am a mom of two amazing kids an 11 year old daughter and six-year-old son. I am also in elementary educator as well as an afterschool tutor for students who need extra help. I have been married to my amazing husband for 16 years this May 27th. When it comes to how I live my daily life I like to say I’m a robot. I wake up every single day as I have the last 10 years at 3:45 AM and work out for about 2 1/2 hours before starting my day. I work out in my garage. I have a bike a tread and a row machine. I run about a half marathon once a week on my tread and I can cycle for Miles… I’ve even once run a full marathon on my treadmill. I love to sweat I love to move my body and if you give me good music I can go forever. I’m an incredibly happy positive fun loving 41-year-old who just likes to see others succeed and find the joy in life through sparkles self-motivation smiles and lots and lots of love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely go see live theater! And visit the amazing sites in the town. I will check out the nightlife and walk as many streets as possible. One of my favorite things to do in a new city is just step outside people watch and walk as much as possible. I’d like to be fully intrenched what it’s like to live in that area. I also have two children so will always discover fun things like cool parks to play that, kids museums and other fun locations that the kids can play. We as a family also love theme parks so will find a local one and just play play play. We also, when possible will go to a sporting event while on vacation.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The discipline I learned in high school when I was in the colorguard has forever changed me into someone who is committed disciplined and always willing to go the extra step to face fears and achieve dreams. I’m reliable and fully committed to anything and I put my full heart into. If I know I can’t give some thing my own and have a desire and emotion to give it everything I got and I know that it’s not for me. But when I go into some thing knowing that this is something that deep down means a lot to me there’s nothing that will stop me. My parents also instilled in me a deep sense of value to myself my family and my career. But being a performer I’m such a young age makes you understand a little bit more about teamwork, being self reliable, and knowing how important it is that you protect yourself from outside sources that can try to tear you down.
