Meet Daniel Diaz Leyva | Managing Partner, Diaz Leyva Group

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Diaz Leyva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
While working at a large AM LAW 50 law firm, where I was transacting on behalf of major institutional clients of the firm and high-net-worth individuals, investors, family offices, banks and builders, I identified what the big firms were capably handling on behalf of their clients; where cost is not an issue and where big firms were cost prohibitive to clients seeking attorneys with the same complex and sophisticated capabilities. Having identified this discrepancy in servicing capabilities, I elected to open my own office to offer the same complex and sophisticated capabilities of a large law firm at a more cost-effective rate with more personalized attention.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Diaz Leyva Group addresses the daily legal challenges business owners face. We specialize in real estate and business transactions and represent a variety of clientele including owner-operators, family offices, investors, home builders and developers, as well as bank and non-bank lenders. Originally focused on handling local transactions, as clients’ businesses have grown, so has the direction of the firm, to include statewide and national legal matters.
I think what sets us apart is two-fold. First, we look to offer clients corporate knowledge with personalized access. With that in mind, we’re also keen on having client needs guide our growth and direction so we can continue providing them the same level of attention and care that they deserve. Second, we are known for being trusted advisors. Clients of course call for legal needs, but they also call for guidance, honest opinions, to talk through next steps freely without concern.
The firm was founded in 2017 following my career at various large law firms. Ultimately, we understand the daily challenges that business owners face because our firm is a small business headed by an owner-operator. The team at Diaz Leyva Group recognizes what motivates clients and seeks to provide the information needed to make the most educated business decisions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You cannot visit Miami without a trip to the actual beach or a boat day on Biscayne Bay. Running the boat around the Bay for epic views of the City with stops at the Miami Marine Stadium and a pass through Stiltsville in the late afternoon for a sunset cruise finishing for cocktails at The Cleat in No Name Harbor in Key Biscayne is a pretty special experience and uniquely local. I can’t list all my favorite restaurants here because there are simply too many to name. Miami has become such a large, diverse City that restaurant options and international cuisine abound some with Michelin-stars. I would recommend exceptional bars and restaurants in Coconut Grove, Little Havana, the Design District, Wynwood, and Allapattah or even a Thomas Keller restaurant at the Four Seasons in Surfside. The atmosphere and people watching are almost as good as the food! Another uniquely local experience is a stop in the Everglades! It is a must given it is a national park in our own backyard!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is no Daniel Diaz Leyva without the love and support of my parents. They supported me through school and encouraged me to be my own man and chart my own path. My wife deserves a lot of credit as well because without her I would not be able to do half the things I do. She has given me something to work towards and work for – our children and our family. Without her constant dedication to our family, I would not be where I am today. She is my biggest advocate and also an outstanding marketer! I also owe much of my progress and professional achievements to mentors both experienced, successful professionals and business people and peers who have achieved incredible success in their own right and have encouraged me through the years in different chapters of my life. The list is long so I won’t list them all here. They know who they are and know how grateful I am for the doors opened, the references given and connections made. More importantly, for sustaining me in the most difficult and challenging circumstances in my life. I am composed of bits and pieces of all of these people in my story.
