We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Narcisse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I see a legacy as a gift to those that truly worked hard to be remembered and a gift for those to remember that person by. The thought of being fortunate enough to leave a legacy is apart of my ingredients to maintain my high level of ambition. If I am lucky enough to lead my career into a light deserving of leaving a legacy I want it to be a statement that sky is not the limit which are words I live by. I grew up hearing the sky is the limit and it’s not true cause past the blue sky and white clouds is galaxies and planets unknown and have yet to be discovered unless you break past the barriers and say to see what one is truly capable of. I want my legacy to reflect that mentality. Limits were put infront of me and made me want to just break them and conquer them with witnesses to inspire and hope that they will see what I did and accomplished and break past limits that were set for them.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Where I’m at today is crazy to think about since like 10 years ago I was starting to look at the picture where now I’m in a picture. There are several other DJ’s I look up to, have met and worked with and truly find to be really talented but the difference with me is I try to not sound like the guy before me or after me and let people know that I have walked in the room or am in the mix. I love peaking my audiences interest getting them on a intellectual level of music and communicating with them through sound and vibes. To get to this level I continuously practice reading people individually and as an audience together to bring us all together and that is not easy at all. It took a lot of self discipline to really pay attention while also enhancing my culture and knowledge st music. What I want this to show is that regardless who you are where you come from if there is one language everyone speaks that is spoken worldwide it’s music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live and come from the concrete jungle where dreams are made of and if your asleep then you’re not living life properly cause we don’t sleep here at all. Being from New York means there is always somewhere to go anytime any day. New York City has food from all over the world that will leave a taste in your mouth that will never be forgotten and quickly missed. Manhattan also has nightlife and daylife where activities and social gathering of all kinds are always available and even spontaneous. Queens is another area just as seasoned with a mixture of variety from carribean and West Indian influences to some really fun Asian cuisine spots. one of the best things about New York is that every where you go it’s a sight to see all I can hope for is that with my hard work I become part of the sight people see when they see New York just like when They hear “Empire State of Mind”.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Growing up I have always been adopted by mom figures and appreciate them so much but there is a figure that I have known for some time now that has been a father figure to me. Al Lopez met me in an unconventional way at a Boost Mobile event and from there a spark created and evolved into a blessing that I will carry with my heart always. He gave me skills, knowledge, love, family, and so much more that I could never repay. Al took me under his wing and molded me to be the best version of my self and give me guidance on how to look out for myself on my journey. So Shoutout to Al but I call him Pops which is a play on his company which I also work for called Paparazzi Entertainment where we make you feel like a celebrity.
