We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniela Garces and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniela, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Guadalupe does not compromise on quality and works exclusively with artisans that employ traditional, time tested techniques to produce the very best garments for our customers.
What should our readers know about your business?
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from FIU and a Masters Degree in Finance from the University of Miami. I started my professional career in finance at Lehman Brothers and then Barclays, My interest in art and design led me to launch Guadalupe Design in Miami in 2010. There is nothing easy about starting a new business the idea behind Guadalupe was , I decided to stick to my principles and mission and let the audience find us, confident that quality and artisanship would eventually distinguish us. Over time, we have faced many challenges. Guadalupe needs talented artisans and finding them required a lot of patience and perseverance. We eventually discovered reliable people in different parts of Latin America and India for production. In addition, making our products accessible to all budgets demands we pay close attention to trends and customer demand which we learned to manage with experience. Lastly, COVID19 has changed the marketplace for everyone and our brand has had to adapt to the times to not only survive but also thrive.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend would be visiting the city we would spend time and walk around the beaches and take a boat trip. We would most definitely eat at Mandolin Miami and Lucali’s which has the best pizza from NY right here in Miami. We would visit Fairchild Gardens which is one of my favorite places and were we shot my latest campaign. We cannot miss taking a stroll through Wynwood in our beautiful Guadalupe dresses. I would recommend her to stay at Faena Hotel where we can enjoy drinks and eating amazing “parilla’s argentinas.” And, of course, we would definitely check out our new store in Coral Gables!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my team for their hard work and incredible dedication to the brand’s mission and success. The tireless effort they make has been fundamental in distinguishing the brand among our audience. In addition, we work with talented artisans throughout Latin America and India that provide us with the highest quality work that has become a staple of our brand. Lastly, I would like to thank my sister, Moira, for her unwavering support. She has been with me from the very start and helped build Guadalupe into what it is today.
