We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Jacoby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Pursuing an artistic career was not always the career path I had in mind for myself. Actually, growing up, I didn’t even do music at all. I always loved to sing, but kept it to myself. It wasn’t until I was 15 years old that my parents heard me sing for the first time. However, as I got older, the passion I found for singing and music quickly outweighed my shyness and fears. Toward my junior and senior year of high school was when I began posting my music, and when I was starting my college application process, I couldn’t imagine going to school for anything other than music. That is why I knew a creative career was the only thing I would love and be happy doing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love to make pop/R&B music, and my writing often derives from my fantasies and desires in life. My goal is to create three minutes of a feeling and a vibe that people can relate to. It wasn’t easy to get to to where I am today, being that I only started to pursue music a couple of years ago. I really had to work hard to get to where I am today, attending music school and being confident in myself and my abilities. As an artist, it is hard not to compare yourself to other talented people who have similar goals to yours, and who have been doing it for twice as long. I have had a lot of moments of self-doubt. However, over time, as I continued to grow, build my confidence, and find myself through music, I have learned that I can’t compare myself to others. I am really proud of my latest release, “Paint A Picture,” hitting 30k streams on Spotify, and I am excited to continue to reach new people with every song I release.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to Tyler Hill Camp, a sleep away camp in Pennsylvania that I grew up going to for 8 years. During the summer of 2015, they brought two music producers to camp, and I was able to sing and record in front of others for the first time in my life. The result of this experience gave me all the validation I needed in order to know that music was exactly what I wanted to do. If they hadn’t brought these producers to camp in 2015, I am not sure when or how I would have grew the confidence to start my music journey.
