Meet Danielle Jefferson | Brand Owner – Naturally Oranj

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Consistency for sure. If we think about what forms habits, why the popular brands we see popping up in advertisement are always visible, and what the truth behind “practice makes perfect” means, its really consistency. The willpower to keep going and form a habit of something takes us a long way. When I get discouraged, it definitely comes from stopping what I was consistently doing, and somehow managing to talk myself out of doing it. But if I remain consistent through discipline rather than my wants, I always achieve success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
For people who dont know, my name is Danielle Jefferson, I am the co-founder of Naturally Oranj, alongside my husband, Terry Jefferson. Naturally Oranj, originally known as HoneyCurlz, is a healthy hair care product supplying business. In short, we sell hair products. These products are a more healthier option, with the help of us to walk you through a natural hair journey OR just a healthy hair journey. I started Naturally Oranj as a hobby for myself. As a college student, who moved away from home, I didn’t have access to a hairstylist I trust. It was even harder to find the hair products I would easily find in my hometown, in this new city I relocated to, and at that point I used that as an opportunity to learn new things when it came to doing my hair. I didn’t know anything about doing hair. I thought washing my hair was as simple as it needed to be — scrub with shampoo, scrub with conditioner, go to a stylist to style it. Simple. I learned so much more about LOC methods, what my hair type was, what type of chemicals dry out hair, how important it is to deep condition every during wash day, what chemicals moisturized hair, and more. I’d make my own mixtures to deep condition my hair in my college apartments kitchen! So yes, it was very difficult starting out because it was a learning curve just as much as a new business venture. As my company grew and grew, it truly produced positive results for people. Growing hair at a rapid rate, curls being defined, less shedding, taming psoriasis, helping people with alopecia. The positive results were and still are endless. I am most proud of the impact and the positive change and the message these products are sending. I used results that my customers were happy with to overcome feeling challenged by the things I was facing. I learned determination and consistency were my best friends. I learned so much about formulating products, marketing the business and myself as a business owner, and so much more. I want the world to know that we are here to stay, to shine, and provide everyone with affordable hair products and a remarkable story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend is in town were going on a boat! For two people who cant swim we sure do love being on a boat, singing our hearts out, and watching Miami sunset and skyline. There is nothing more beautiful and what reminds me why I love Miami so much. For a week long we might have lunch at Lornas Caribbean restaurant, because thats her favorite place to do food. We may spend our evening catching appetizers and drinks at our favorite spot in Dania Pointe. I’m not sharing the name of the place, sorry!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would shoutout my partner and my husband, Terry Jefferson. There is no one more dedicated to ensuring our success. Every effort he has made on behalf of this business has been an encouragement to push myself as a business owner and a person overall. The love and support he shows me goes unnoticed and my business would not be where it is right now if it were not for his drive and consistency in motivating.
