We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Massucci and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had spent a good part of my young adulthood working in the retail and the restaurant industry. I dabbled in other things as well but it all led me to the conclusion that I did not want to spend my entire life working for someone else. So as a single mom I was determined to make a change and be something that my daughter would be proud of and I also wanted to be doing something that I would actually enjoy. For me it was a no brainer, the beauty industry. After graduating as an esthetician I went on to learn the art of lash extensions and found my passion there. I was fortunate to be hired at a successful salon where in a short time I was able to gain the experience and knowledge I needed to feel ready to venture out on my own. I started small by renting a room in a salon suite which then led to my very own salon and I love being my own boss.

What should our readers know about your business?
I love that my salon is a woman-owned business that offers services for the most part to women. I want everyone that comes in to feel they are in a place where they can relax and unwind, talk about anything they’d like and leave feeling empowered. Providing the best quality of services and fostering great relationships are equally important to me. I’m proud and very grateful to be able to say that I have present clients that have been with me since the very beginning. I think one of the biggest challenges I had was finding a reliable team to transition from a solo practitioner. I’m excited about being in the beauty industry. There is so much to continually learn about in terms of adding services to offer for your clientele.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it were in the season I would definitely start a Saturday morning with a stroll around the Green market in our downtown waterfront area. There are so many merchants offering tasty items and other things as well. Also in that area is ER Bradley’s saloon where there is waterfront dining and live music nightly. There are also concerts every Thursday night at Clematis by Night that offers food and drink from different vendors. Rocco’s tacos is the place to go for Taco Tuesdays.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family for helping me in so many ways. I’d give a shout out to the owner of the salon that first hired me even though I didn’t have the years of experience they required. My beautiful daughter for never complaining about any late hours worked when I was solo. And Taryn that I am blessed to have as part of the Primp team that I can’t thank enough for being reliable amazing at what they do.
